I really should know the answer to this or consult with my resp' team. But from fellow-copders experience.... which is the most beneficial delivery system when (a) ambulatory (b) at rest?

oxygen pulse or constant

Hi edwardo, from my limited experience (off and on ambulatory on pulse for 2 years and continuous flow 24/7 at 4L for 4 weeks when very ill) I would say pulse ox is far the best. Main reason being that when i was on continuous my nose would bleed very badly and be extremely sore. I guess that if your skin is very thin from taking steroids (mine is) then this might be more likely. But as i said, my knowledge is limited. I think there are ways to minimise the bleeding.
If you are a mouth breather, O2 on pulse may not work so well, unless you use a mask (rather than cannulas) which you most likely wouldn't want to do while outdoors, as it relies on the breath through your nostrils to make it work.
You'll probably get a lot more detailed information from more members.
Yes I am on oxygen 16 hr day mostly at night but day I like to go onpulse as it is easier on the nose plus you only use oxygen you need and respiratory nurse says that was fine but everybody to their way of breathing
I have ambulatory oxygen when active and I have 2litres a min constant as I have problems breathing through my nose for any period of time.
hi ive been doing a bit of reading on this and come to the conclusion pulsed is the better of the two ,and when I need to go for oxygen I will push for the pulse valve even if I have to buy my own concentrator
