Uti Again!!

Hi everyone

One drug resistant uti, I've got!

Nitrofurantoin didn't work. ( very bad to take when you have lung problems)

Now we're looking at Cipro. I believe I've

heard you guys mention this one before.

Is it bad news? Theres something called

D-mannose powder. Its a natural thing.

It's unbelievable the trouble I'm having!

I'm trying Peege! Any experience with

Cipro anyone?

Thanks

Rubyxx 😊

Hi Ruby, poor you. Hope things do improve soon. Pete takes Ciprofloxacin and does very well on it when he has a chest infection. He has not had side effects and always has a supply at home.

Hope that helps a bit. Take care. xxxx

Thanks Sassy

Been reading some horror stories about it on Google.

Seems like anything for utis has horrible side effects. Guess I'll find out! One by one!

I wish it would go away. I think it's gone and then I get the familiar burning. Maybe by next year! Hope you're well. 😊

Ruby I suffered with Cystitis for years& YEARS , taking loads of AB's but then I found D Mannose ( got it from sweet cures in york ) it really does work, but it may be too much for it to work if you have a full blown infection. ( also controversially one GP I had said only take the antibiotics until the pain etc stops, then stop, I always was told to take them right till the end) but it did work stopping the AB's when the symptoms stopped , but then take the D mannose ...They have ( or at least did have) a brilliant site all about cystitis which had loads of helpful info. Its a faff taking the powder but if you feel and infection coming on it really does help prevent it going into a full blown infection.. Its most helpful if you cystitis is sex related ...as you can take the D Mannose before and after sex and that seems to stop it developing.

The proper D Mannose is fairly expensive, but for thos who have suffered the pain of cystitis, its worth the money. Sweet Cures were a great company to deal with, if you phone them they will give you GREAT advice. and they have even sent the stuff out to me next day delivery before I have paid them, as they know we need it urgently. Of course I have not used them for about 5 years and it may not be the same now. Go look at the website anyway and its very useful . The lady that was so helpful was called Anna

I hope you get rid of it,

Love Sohara

Hi Sohara

Thanks for the info. It sounds like good stuff. From what I read, the bacteria clings to it. Plus the best part, no side effects. Did you have a powder?

Rubyxx 😊

hi ruby,

So sorry to hear of these repeated utl,s

i have a catheter and quite often get bother with this urinary tract infections, the last one i had, was treated with trimethoprim, This did help this particular infection.

Strangely enough i had tried ciprofloxacin before that with a different uti, but found the trimethoprim better .

The problem being Ruby, as you know, what works for one person will not necessarily help another.

But i can certainly sympathise with you, as these infections are horrible.

i hope you find something suitable Ruby, and you begin to feel better, real soon.

lots of love

Eventually I might get rid of the little demon! Seems like a bad dream Jimmy, follows me everywhere! Guess I'm going to be taking the cipro next. No sleeping with that one. How are you feeling ? Hope you're doing well Jimmy. Looking forward to some jokes from you! 😊

Love

Rubyxxx ☺ ☺

hi ruby,

i hope you manage to get clear of this. its such a nasty thing.you'll need to try the cipro, and like the steroids, they keep, you awake, but what can you do ruby, best get rid of that infection if possible,

i'm a bit better now, ruby, but still room for improvement, but i'm ok really, lack of sleep because of these steroids not helping.

But big shortage of jokes of late :D no doubt ill remember some, or steal some :D ha ha.

but still really catching up with many things including the site.

lots of love for now ruby, hope you improve asap and begin to

feel a lot better

Yup on it atm. Can't say I'm enthusiastic but I am desperate! This is day 2 of 5 and it's working :-) can't pretend the ciprofloxacin makes me feel good but it IS only for five days :-)

rubyred777 profile image
rubyred777β€’ in reply tofrose

You have a uti also? Everytime I

think it's gone, it comes back.

Seems like I'll never get rid of it.

Cipro keep you awake?

Rubyxx 😊

frose profile image
froseβ€’ in reply torubyred777

Yes. Trimethoprim and nitrofurantoin have both failed. Damn thing just keeps returning. And yes, cipro does keep me awake. It's not a fun ab to take but on the other hand it is working! Are you taking it now?

rubyred777 profile image
rubyred777β€’ in reply tofrose

Been dancing with this uti since the end of Sept. ! Even went to the e.r with it. Culture came back negative! Couple days later... its back...Unbelievable!

I had amoxicillin twice and nitrofurantoin twice. Did the nitrofurantoin give you any bad effects? Not a good thing for people with lung problems to take. Dr. Wants me to do another culture, then probably cipro. Feel better.😊

Rubyxx 😊

frose profile image
froseβ€’ in reply torubyred777

No the nitrofurantoin was fine to take actually. A 10 day course cleared things. 3 days later it was back. Wishing you well and that the 'dancing' will soon cease!

rubyred777β€’ in reply tofrose

You too!

😊😊😊😊😊.xx

Yes Ruby. I have been taking it 750mg bd for 14 days when needed since 1986. Am now waiting with baited breath for the nebulised version to be licensed. It tends to get me down after about ten days on it and there is a danger of damage occurring to the tendons but I have always got away without that. Good luck, I hope it is effective for you.

The ab I took was trimethoprim I used to have the tablets of d mannose but sweet cures couldn't get there original ones made & the tablets they went to weren't so good. The powder seems to flush the bladder out better. Definitely worth having some by you so you can take it now and again. Phone Anna she has been a lifelong sufferer & she will advise you

If you don't get these uti s often then muddle on as you are. But I used to get several in a year. Lots of reasons that are a bit personal πŸ˜„πŸ˜„. But I have told LOADS of people about d mannose & they have all found it works for them. It was a god send for me

I take Cipro regularly for my lungs Ruby and so far, haven't suffered from any scary side affects. Does cranberry juice help at all ? I've always found it helpful and drinking loads of water as well. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

rubyred777β€’ in reply toBilliejean_2

Hi Billiejean

I'm taking the cranberry pills.

Seem to be helping some. Probably will be starting cipro on mon. Have to do another culture first. How are you doing? You're home and loving it, right?
