Oxygen level
Evening. The nurses say between 88 - 92 if you have COPD, but in hospital they didn't like it going below 90. Do you have a oximeter at home.

No I don't have one I was only diagnosed 2 weeks ago and I go for scan on 17th dec
I'm so sorry I didn't realise. Welcome as the others said you can get one on Amazon. Good luck with your scan. Hope to speak to you soon.

Hi
It is not at a danger level but I would expect to be nearer 94.
Have you tried breathing exercise, pursed lip breathing to increase the level.
Mention to your respitory nurse or ring the BLF helpline for advice.

Hi it can be a good idea to get an oxymeter. I got mine from Amazon £20 and got it tested for accuracy at the doctors. Fingers crossed it is copd rather than anything nastier. x
Hi Mojo, I agree with the others. You can buy an oximeter very reasonably on Amazon.
I use mine whenever I feel a bit sob & it makes me feel better when it registers my oxygen levels as normal.
I've just used it & its 98 & I have copd.
My usual is between 97/99
Hope you get on ok at your scan 🌺
Do you know what the elevation is where you live as I understand that can affect your O2 sats? I always wondered why mine was only 96 while occasionally going to 97-98 but usually at 95-96 and then read an article that says the higher the elevation the lower the O2 sats will be at rest. The elevation where I am is about 715 metres above sea level so just wondered what your elevation is given you are in the 97-99 range.
Thank you
Thanks I will look on Amazon
Welcome.
At rest I am 92 and can go up to 94 but as soon as I do anything like go up stairs I can go to 78/88. I got mine from Amazon and it shows heart rate too.

Offcut I'm getting the same numbers as you. Pulmonary specialist thinks oxygen for exercise is probably warranted.
I continually get the problem that when I have my obs they are always at rest and at the highest 92/94 so base it all on that? I had one specialist watch me go from my chair to the ECG room. He then said "Now I understand what you mean" He saw for himself how my O2 drops on the simplest things but does recover fairly quickly. This is not much help if you want to do anything?
