Hi

Check the chart.

peakflow.com/pefr_normal_va...

Further information.

Green Zone: 80 to 100 percent of the usual or normal peak flow readings are clear. A peak flow reading in the green zone indicates that the lung function management is under good control.

Yellow Zone: 50 to 79 percent of the usual or normal peak flow readings indicates caution. It may mean respiratory airways are narrowing and additional medication may be required.

Red Zone: Less than 50 percent of the usual or normal peak flow readings. Indicates a medical emergency. Severe airway narrowing may be occurring and immediate action needs to be taken. This would usually involve contacting a doctor or hospital.

IF IN DOUBT, CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR FOR ADVICE.

Hi it doesn't sound like it is normal. But using figures like 300 is ridiculous as how do they know how a 300 year old is like? If I were you I would ask your nurse or doctor for more information. x

Depends how tall you are. However peak flow isn't very relevant to some lung conditions. Also it depends what's "normal" for you. I am 63 & my pf varies from 290-340.

Hi Pennytuppence, peak flows are not a sure fire way of judgeing lung disease severity, I am older than you and my readings range between 275 and 375, I am 5ft1in in height. So I would agree question your GP about what you should expect from peak flow readings.

PF norms varies by height sex and age, so for us to comment we'd need your height.. You can read it off the chart in the link Stone provided assuming it's the same measure as in your PF device Litres per minute (L/PM). Given 85 l/pm below these readings is deemed to be 'within normal limits', likely you are, too. Did the meter not come with instructions?

I would say anything over 300 is normal.my peak flow reading is 130 at the moment x
