Coils are not available here yet. Can someone tell me the hosptals in England/UK that have the coils program available, please. They would increase my breathing apprx 50 to 60% according to the trials test done here. Thank you so much. carl

Afternoon. I contacted the people in charge of the trial direct when I read about the trial in the newspaper. Dr Pallav Shah and William Mcnaulty. Unfortunately I wasn't suitable for lung coils, Dr Shah was lovely. It's worth asking them about the coils, maybe they can put you in touch with someone your who's maybe trialing them.
Drs Shah and McNaulty are at the Royal Brompton on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The lovely nurse in charge of the latest trial (called Liberate-study #630-0012) is Jennifer Resco. +44 20 7262 8121 Extn 4973. I, too have copd emphysema but, because it is the lower third of my lungs that is affected, Dr Shah says that coils are not the best option. The little balloons (valves) seem to be the way forward. Just waiting for the results of my blood count, and then hopefully into the next stage, which is a bronchoscopy.
Try Dr, Shah at the Royal Brompton hospital in London. He's a lovely man and eager to help. I went to see him last year about coils, but didn't qualify as I have not only Emphysema but Bronchiectasis as well and they won't do them if you have that. Good luck. Telephone number from the U.S.A. is 44 20 7352 8121
Hi nickers, I too am looking for procedures available to bronchiectasis patients, I am really suffering with copious mucus problems just wondered if you had discovered any other help available to us, thanks xx carol
I've had Bronchiectasis since I was a baby and never had any "treatment" as such. When I was a child I had "tipping twice a day, but that was all. They told my Mother that the effected part of the lung could be cut out, but she wouldn't let them. As an adult I've only ever had puffers and Abs/steroids when I get an infection. I don't think there are any real procedures for it, it's only quite recently that it's been properly recognised as a serious lung disease and much more research needs to be done about it. Emphysema and Asthma get much more recognition. Sorry I couldn't be of much help...good luck. XX
