Just wondering if any of you have had immunoglobulin therapy? and if so did it help keep infections at bay? I am due to have my 1st one tomorrow. Going to see con. today, sure il forget half the things I want to ask! Whilst I wouldn't wish all these infections on anybody, hope maybe someone could shed some light on it. Take care all xx

Hi Sheilab. I haven't had it yet but it's been mentioned to me as the next step in my treatment. I am seeing Immunologist after Xmas. I have Asthma/Copd overlap syndrome with bronchiectasis. I also have a persistent Hib type B infection which I take Azithromycin 3 times a week for. So far it seems to be suppressing the infection but it's a bit wait and see at the moment. Do you have similar problems.
Anyway I will be very interested to hear how you get on and wish you all the best. Take care.
Sue xx
Hi Sue, thanks for reply, I have Copd and Bronch, no asthma, but getting infections every other week of late, though it's probably more like 2yrs. They are saying I have Hypogammaglobulinemia, does this ring a bell with you? I will certainly keep you posted! xx
Hi. Oh poor you. I do sympathise with you. That's what I was like until I started on the Azithromycin so I am getting some relief at the moment although the infection always feels like it's going to break through. I haven't heard of what you have but will look it up. I have something called MGUS which you can have for many years but doesn't do anything. It's possible it may have come into play now. I'm on 'watch and wait'! Lol. xx
Hi Sue, Azith did help all summer, but sadly no longer! I will PM you after round 1 tomorrow and let you know how it went! Seems we are very much in the minority. Take care xx
I was waiting for doc to talk about it with me as my immunoglobulin antibodies was low and my vitamin D was vanashing
Am under gi & liver doc to hopefully find cause as i have had about six infections wile on perminate antbiotics.
Guess the waiting for results of scan's befour talk about other causes of my infection rate
Hi D3, it is annoying to keep getting infections whilst on permanent ABs, at long last it seems we are finally being listened to though. Good luck with your test results. xx
Hi cheers thanks defo agree there. I would not mine but each infection takes even more of our lung function away
Yes D you are so right, that is the worrying thing, especially when it's b awful to start with! xx
I have no personal experience of immunoglobulin therapy but a few people who i know have had it and not one has complained, indeed, they have all experienced a massive decrease of infection and a massive increase in energy levels. I wish you the same, good luck.
Also looking forward to increased energy levels! Practically zero at mo! xx
