How lovely to be going to Lanzarote! βοΈ I'm scared to go on a plane because of my COPD. βοΈ I love flying but am afraid of ending up with a chest infection. I'm not on oxygen so maybe it's just me being silly. How do you cope on the flight? Are you ok in the heat when you land?
Have a fantastic time, I'm very jealous!! π
Happytochat I went to Turkey 2 years ago and I didn't have any problems I've only had problems this year I was on Seretide 500 and I kept getting chest infections I had a X/Ray and that was all clear but I did read that other members on another forum I'm on saying they also had chest infections so two months ago I asked my Dr to change it to Symbicort she hummed and armed but did it I said if it don't work I will go back to Seretide, but thank god so far I've been great breathing has been fine I had a breathing test with my nurse the beginning of the month and I'm having another one next week to just see how the new inhaler has been working.I to are not on oxygen I'm also keeping fingers crossed that I'm going to be ok in Feb only time will tell I will keep in touch with you and let you know love Bliss xx
Thanks so much for your reply! I've been on Symbicort 400 & Spiriva since I came out of a 3 month stay in ICU after contracting Pneumonia. I think it has helped my breathing, will know when I go back to see consultant next month. I'm just afraid to get on the plane, arrive in a foreign country, then come down with an infection! I'll ask my consultant for advice & maybe I'll be joining you on holiday! π
I'm not going to think of infection I have insurance also my EU health card I hope all goes well for you next month when you see you're consultant And if he says go for it have a holiday do it I'm not letting COPD rule my life love Bliss xxx
Exactly! Well said! I'm just a coward! Think it's down to being airlifted unconscious to hospital, having a tracheostomy & lying on my back for 3 months in ICU. My muscles are still not as strong as they were, but I'm getting better. I know I shouldn't let COPD rule my life but I would rather not go through that again! Will let you know what consultant says & thanks for your advice. πΊ
Happy I hope you don't mind me asking but do you exercise xx
I don't mind at all! Yes I walk to strengthen my leg muscles. I go swimming & do as much housework as I can manage.
I go to the gym I was referred by my Dr been going now for 3 years I've been today I've been on the leg press did 40 also did 15 min on the treadmill on hills and 10 min on the rowing machine
Hi Bliss sounds like a good deal, peace of mind as well, hope you have a Blissful holiday, hope you tell us all about it when you get back!π huff xxx ππ π£π’ππππ
Yes Huff a great deal I won't have to wait till I get home to tell you all about it has the hotel has wifi so I can send you pictures I can't wait has we so far in Devon have not had a good summer love Bliss xx
That's brilliant that you have got travel insurance. Hope you both have a wonderful holiday xx
I also have COPD and take Seretide and Eklira Genuair inhaler but no oxygen. Both daughters live overseas so I don't have much choice but to fly. However, just to reassure you I have flown to Australia several times and Qatar just a few and have been fine. My secret (though maybe I shouldn't say this) has been a couple of brandies in flight which has made me stop thinking about the COPD! Only two though!
My attitude is, whatever works for me I will do it! However, so pleased you got insurance sorted and have a really brilliant holiday. Take care.
