Just exposed my poor wrinkly arms for the first time this summer...I wouldn't be going out with them mind you...the neighbours would be fainting with the sheer horror.
But...why do most women take care to cover up their saggy and baggy bits when men don't give a toss...some ladies couldn't give a fig... I do know that 'cos I've seen them squashed into clothes which are patently three sizes too small...jeans that must surely cut into their lower bellies...tank tops that are struggling to contain ample bosoms...
It must be a blessed relief to get undressed in the evening and wear a dressing gown...
They wear thongs you know...you can see when they bend down to tend to a child or lean over a freezer with special offers of Spicy Wedges...wouldn't catch me wearing a thong. Cutting my nether regions in two...and where would you be putting your Tena Lady I want to know... if all you're wearing is a scrap of nylon lace about your bits...
Now it'd be different if I was tall and willowy with legs up to my armpits and cellulite was a foreign word...if I had neat buttocks and went to a salon to have my lady garden waxed...then I'd be sorting through the racks of dainty be-ribboned lacy thongs...go for comfy full briefs now...black ones...white need a bit of boiling.
There isn't much point in releasing your inner goddess and tossing caution to the wind if you're not comfy.
Floaty is the answer. Layers are good...loose is excellent...though some call 'loose' baggy...a size too big is so much better than a size too small...cotton is brilliant...acrylic is iffy and makes you sweat...polyester ought to be confined to the nearest landfill.
Oh vashti you had me laughing so much there. Remember no one is perfect so it would be a shame to have to wear long sleeves if you don't want to. So what? Have confidence. You are you and not your wrinkly arms. Like you said lots of woman do expose nasty bits so join them. x

Oh Vashti. You do have a neat way with words. Hope this means your feeling better. Sorry I didn't send you any words of support. Were traveling in Europe with the camper van so don't get WiFi often & roving data is a tiny bit expensive. Were having a great time. Got bashed by a fork lift truck on the Ferry. From Denmark to Norway. We weren't in the van so no damage to do s but the van is looking a bit battle worn. Keep writing your do good, best wishes Nan

Don't forget that women over a certain age become invisible anyway so no one is looking at your saggy arms vashti. They are too busy being worried about their own less than perfect bits. Let it all hang out and go out with your head held high and enjoy. xx
It's the lilywhite legs that get me! After months of being swaddled in trousers/tights/jeans/leggings etc., there they all are at the first glint of the sun, shining out like a couple of pints of milk- varicose veins and all! With so much stuff on the market now to give you that "sun kissed" look, it only takes a few minutes to apply .......much better than the gravy browning we had to use during the war - but at least we bothered!
I too don't understand why there's so much made about women's arms? All the jumped up designers are so ready to recommend "this style" or "that style" to "cover up" the upper arms of "older ladies." This world is far to obsessed with the young and beautiful (mostly plastic) people today. Do they believe that they will never get any older and be expected to "cover it all up?" I won't cover my arms for anyone.......if you don't approve - look the other way and leave me to my hard earned wrinkly arms! XX
Tanning stuff has come a long way from that stuff we used to use that left orange streaks and smelled odd...I'm far too young to remember using gravy browning...lol

I'm with you Vashti and don't own a thong, never have. Ouch! Never been tall and willowy either sadly - have to settle for short and dumpy I'm afraid but never mind. I can see what I want to see when I look in the mirror but it does vary from day to day. I love colour but am not averse to a bit of beige now and again. Loose and floaty is definitely the way to go.
Remember that dress I bought, Vashti? I did wear it the other day and got some nice compliments. It fits very well and is comfortable but on the hottest days I like my wider leg linen trousers with a loose linen top, stone colour trousers and apple green top, Elbow length sleeves, my arms have batwings and wrinkles! Hope I never lose interest in clothes, makes you feel better inside when you are reasonably happy with what you see in the mirror. iris x
Maybe the thongs pander to their spicy wedges...my partner has psoriasis on her elbows, knees ( and other areas ) and is almost ashamed when people point and comment...After years of telling her " that's their problem, not yours " she is starting to bare her arms and legs a bit more. So ladies....if someone doesn't like you the way you are, then it is their problem, not yours, and S*d them eh!!..

I will tell you guys something. From childhood until my late teens I had very severe acne which left big dents and pitts in my skin. You can't cover your face up can you, so I had to go out and face the world looking like that. I think every cloud has a silver lining as nowadays I have long since learned to deal with 'ugly woman' comments and I grew a thick skin. I have always felt disfigured though. I did have plastic surgery though in my 20's- 2 dermabrasions on my skin on the NHS (not available now) which helped a lot and now it is 60% gone.
I was offered special make up which completely hides it free on the NHS as it is very expensive, but extremely good. And you know what? I just cannot be bothered now - I am me warts and all if you don't like it you can shove off I am me and have earned my battle scars...
Interestingly not one of my friends has ever bothered about it - they like me the way I am. It's occasionally come up in conversation years later but no big deal.
So ladies be loud and proud you have all earned it. xx
