endobroncial valve
Not me personally but here's a link to other discussions about them on BLF. I think one or two are from people who have had the procedure done.
Hi Lulu5555.
The trials for valves are complete for the UK, and their use is now approved by NICE. They are not suitable for all patients, so a fairly strict assessment programme has to be gone through. the operation is done at one of several Centres of Excellence. Your local GP or consultant can make application on your behalf. To find your nearest centre, follow the link below

If you have questions, ask, and I will try to answer them.

Thanks John for your reply was your a success and was your lungs improved Mary
Hi Lulu, Here is what I wrote Back in Nov 2012
healthunlocked.com/blf/post....
My op was a tremendous success. Sadly, not everyone gets the same result.
To Notlocal, fingers crossed for your LVRS!
I see Johnwr has already posted (we usually post in tandem on valves). His is a success story, mine isn't. Valves, like he says, can only be placed after an assessment. If the lobes are not 'joined' (50% of people) and if there's not too much damage to the lower lobes then you may fit the profile. CT scan showed my top and middle left lobes weren't joined but unfortunately they were and I have experienced no improvement. No deterioration either and the operation is easily reversed. In my case I'm having LVRS this year, so they will come out along with my upper left!
I have had 9 valves in the left lung, last July, a slight improvement, but to be fair quite a few complications afterwards ,which didn't help.
Thanks June for your reply have read about problems afterwards a lot to think about .Mary
Just seen this in the Daily Mail. Thought it would be of interest dailymail.co.uk/health/arti...
Hi Mark Thank you for your reply yes I did see it ,but since then my consulant says I am not suitable for this This week she has given me Acethlcysteine and dliute with sodium chloride inhaled with nebuliser 4 times daily this with carbocisteine tablets should clear my lungs of muncas, it is working and I am breathing better no more coughing hard and more life in me , this is early days, so I am hoping it works for me .The consultant says it does not work for everyone. If anyone is on this could you let me know how this is for you. mary
