Hi just tried to put a link in for you but it failed. Google it and have a look. I am no expert but I don't think it is suitable for everyone but it might be for her. The best thing to do is ask her doctor/consultant. Good luck. x
Hi Alice, my friend is being considered for this treatment the only thing they checked is her heart probably to make sure it can undergo the op safely, sorry I don't know any more about it. Take care to u both x Sonia x
I am in gold stage Emphysema,I can't get any worse and I am having a lung transplant in near future..I hope this helps Laura xx
Hi Alice I've just been on Google and it has some really good items relating to this valve procedures give it a read, but ur sisters specialist/consultant is ur best bet for proper advice. X Sonia x
Trials have shown a definite improvement in FEV1 % ( up to 15% increase in some cases ) also improvement in the 6 minute walk.
Here's a link to the people who make them. Interesting reading as it explains about the lungs, emphysema and the coils. Very informative. Although I am Stage 4 I don't need any surgery of any sort at the moment but I like the sound of these coils and would opt for them if and when I need help.
Hi, My husband has copd emphysema , went to see the specialist, after he had all the checks and scan, was told he could not have the valves, because his emphysema, its every where, if it had been in the upper lobe, then it would have been a possibility.
so it all depends where it is, he was really devastated that he could not have it done, but have to get on with life.
Hope your sister can have it done.
