Perfect reply from Flibberti.

I take Azith as a cure rather than the prophylactic dose. It's in my rescue pack. For me it was marvellous, the only thing that shifted a four month infection.

Hope it helps you too. P

Hubby has been on this maintenance antibiotic for about 18 months and for him it is the best thing since sliced bread, during this time he has only had 4 flare ups and they were relatively minor. Hope you get better soon.

Phew, you had me worried for a moment.

Your doc wouldn't have presc to take them as you are if he/she didn't know what they were doing.

If you don't finish the long course the bacteria can come back with a vengeance.

A consultant once told me that Azith helps do dry up mucus as well.

You will really improve soon.

Me too cofdrop hope he listens to me !! not having a very good day today its unblievable the amount of stuff I am coughing up (something I dont normally do) usually it comes out without coughing !! thanks xx

Hi i Don't think you need to worry. I have been taking 250mg daily as my maintenance antibiotic for a few years and haven't noticed any problems with it. So I would say definitely keep taking the prescribed dose, sounds like it is working for you and you are not suffering any side effects. Hope you feel better soon and your consultant appt goes well.

Hi, I take Azitheromycin, 250g, every day. I haven't had any problems with it but then I take so many medications I probably wouldn't know which one was causing the problem. I still get exacerbations though but probably not as badly as if I didn't take it. Take care, Lizzy

Hubby was put on Azith. 500 3xweek last fall and this is the first winter in YEARS that he made it without having to go on antibiotics/steroids for an exacerbation or to the emergency for shortness of breath. I was skeptical when he first went on in it, but it's made a world of difference for him. *S*

Hi flibberty

Yes I think you are right my consultant once sent me to see a physio a couple of years ago but since then no input from medics on any physio all I've learned to be fair even about helpful breathing techniques is from this site , thankfully, I am at present sat in my bed typing to you and feeling marvelous I have not been able to move as well for a long time it's such a great feeling I had forgotten what it was like to be a tad normal ! I have moved that much rubbish from my sinus and chest I can't believe it and I am not surprised I'd couldn't breath very well , I can honestly say this site has saved my life more than once, hope you are well xxx Carol
