Copd question

Hi all my dad has copd n i was just wundering if any one on here can tell me any thing about tjis illness and also i have told him to go to doctors to see if they will give him a oxygen tank hopefully they so xx just looking for sme advice xx

There is lots of information on this site about copd - if you put this in the search box at the top right of the screen it will come up.

A lot depends on the severity of his illness. Do you know his lung function or stage? He might need oxygen but this wouldn't be to help him breathe but to support his organs if his oxygen levels (sats) regularly go below 88%. I think 84% is the cut off point and lack of oxygen can cause damage to his organs if he is below that.

If you are in the UK ring up the BLF number (under the red balloon) and they will send you out loads of bumph about it. Another good site to use is the NHS one as there is lots of information on there as well. x
