Hello Keith, That sounds very stressful for you to cope with. I care for my husband who has severe COPD. I think it might be helpful for you to ring the BLF helpline 03000 030 555 Lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. They will be able to discuss the care your mother is getting and hopefully give you some support. Take good care, lots of love TAD xx

Hi and welcome I looked after my mom who also had COPD and towards the end she was at her worst most days. Mom knew her limits and hated the summer as this made her breathing so bad and she would not be able to sleep at night.
I would go and see mom every day take her a home cooked meal and just keep her company just being there for mom was all I could do and on her good days we would go out shopping.
Hi Keitht1950,
Please do give us a call on the helpline. We can arrange for one of our nurses to give you a call and have a chat.
It's what we are here for.
Regards,
Biddy

Thankyou all for your posts/reply its comforting to know people out there with good advice.I will ring the BLF for a chat.I was with mum today but it seems as though everything including talking makes her breathing difficult and then she has to sleep in fact she seems to sleep most of the day.I live with my wife some 7 miles away and although carers go to see to mum 4 times a day I feel as though I am on 24 hour alert for a phone call.
