Pulmonary Hypertension and exercise

I have been trying to get some exercise via my GP surgery. The practice nurse has passed me onto the Respiratory Nurses who haven't got back to me as they don't quite know what to do with me as I don't come under the umbrella of COPD. The last I heard was that they didn't want me to do anything until after my next visit to Sheffield sometime in December and I send them a copy of the report, which will not doubt be sent sometime in January. I am trying to walk as much as I can but seeing as I am having problems walking further than 500yards, without having to stop and lean on something I don't know what else I can do. Any advice out there from anyone else suffering and what exercise if any they can do?

BLF have a list of exercises available on their web site. Some are chair based and there are also breathing exercises. Take it easy at first and just gently increase your exercise each week. Don't go training for the marathon or anything severe until you get the all clear from the hospital. It is universally agreed that exercise is the one common way of improving you condition.

I use callanetic exercise which means you use your own body resistance to exercise your muscles.

I know what you mean about advice my GP has just said "live with it" my hospital consultant has said " Sorry we do not have a magic pill at the moment"

I would go here or even join I have learnt so much from them. It has explained the reasons to my SOB and even near black outs I was having.

I now understand why my consultant has not given me anything as I am on 2 of the drugs they use already, even though they have not told me this?

PH is one of those problems that only affect a few thousand people diagnosed in the UK so is on the bottom of the research list

Know your limits and push them when you can.
