Told a month ago got moderate COPD. Week later signs of chest infection again given steroids and antibiotics. Finished 2weeks ago now first sputum of the day bright green. Does that mean I should go back on antibiotics and steroids (was given some to keep at home). I think I just have a cold barr this morning sputum clear since. Thanks

Sometimes, I would bring up green sputum which would clear during the day. However you need to watch and send a specimen Monday am, if it is still green. Certainly speak to the respiratory nurse of the BLF nurse. xx

Yes,I would certainly speak to someone about it,as green sputum generally indicates infection, good luck xx

It probably means you should go back to doctor or nurse...I didn't and ended up REALLY in a bad way. So, just check up on it......stay well :)

Thank you guys. Going to speak with my GP later, hoping do t have to go back on steroids didn't like them last time ended up feeling very emotional and confused to the point had to take a week off work and as self employed can't keep doing that plus upset my stomach.

If you have an infection you need to take 2 courses of antibiotics, one straight after the other. If you only take one weeks worth there is a great risk of the infection returning.

I was given this information at pulmonary rehab.
