Hi. I recieved a letter from my local hospital, saying that I have to attend the outpatients there for the Thoracic clinic. What I would like to know is what will they be doing on that day please. If some one know matter how much that will be a great help and will give me a insight in to it ..thankyou ...
Thoracic clinic: Hi. I recieved a... - Lung Conditions C...
Thoracic clinic
I had lung function tests, a short walk test, blood tests and an ECG. It will probably differ but I think that a lot of clinics will want to set a baseline the first time they see a patient.
Good luck - you can expect it to take a few hours though.

Ok Marie thankyou for that . The waiting is a problem I have as I suffer with Parkinson's disease and cant sit around waiting I need to be on the go or doing something . But thankyou very much.
Well hopefully they will realise this from your notes and you will be speeded through the process. Was only the wait for the lung function test that took a while for me - that was just due to a queue. Good luck,
Mx
Hi Peter, maybe you can point out your problem to them, when you arrive,as notes are sometimes overlooked!
Good luck with it xx
im always weighed and have my bloods checked for c02 and have a lung function similar to the one in the doctors then a chat with my consultant
if you want to see your consultant and not a registrar when you go in tell them at reception they can usually accommodate you x
Hi Peter
Your visit to the hospital will involve various tests lasting about 2 hours. You will have a chest X-ray, breathing tests involving breathing into a machine to test your lung capacity etc., blood tests, obs - blood pressure, height, weight, oxygen levels and then a chat with the consultant to discuss your respiratory problems. They may suggest a new drug regime and then follow you up with another appointment to keep an eye on your progress. They may want a CT scan at some stage.
I have always found my visits to the local hospital helpful, friendly and genuinely caring.
Good luck.
