Interesting. Watercress, spinach, kale and red peppers contain more vitamin C than any other fruit or veg.

For years I used to follow my body instincts by buying things that I was drawn to - I would eat uncooked baby spinach leaves and watercress mixed together - I never had a cold but it never occurred to me that there was a connection. Fascinating to see this in a recent TV documentary. :)

Spinach has been proven to help the eyesight of the older person by repairing the eye because of one of its compounds.

My problem is Spinach is an antidote for warfarin which I need to stop me getting a stroke! But Cranberries are a anticoagulant so cannot take them in case I have bleeds? some times nature just want to upset us.

Be Well

That's useful. How do you find out about contraindications of food?

I have a habit of researching things to death. Plus my own experiences with the multi problems I have that do not work well together either. I cannot eat mussels as I am allergic to Iodine and they are high in iodine. I only found that out because I had an angiogram and they use Iodine to see your heart working on xray. It was not until I got out of bed and collapsed because my BP had dropped to my socks. Injection of adrenalin and an overnight stay in obs ward. When ever I go into hospital now I get a Red wristband. Makes me feel I need to wear a bell around my neck :)

Interesting post, I think food /diet has to be a very individual decision based on info like you posted jimmyr and your own personal requirements. Believe watercress has many medicinal benefits as does garlic & ginger but to name a few.
