It was discovered a number of years ago that it relieved Spinal pain for a number of people. I have used it myself. If you visit the Pain Concern community here on HU you will find a large number of people using this med for pain relief. Regards Rib

I was prescribed it to help me sleep, but after reading the leaflet, I decided to take it just one night a week....it did relax me in bed and I did get some sleep, but I felt very drowsy the next day so I very very rarely take it now. I only take it when I am absolutely desperate for some sleep. Good luck. :)

I can't help you on the panic/anxiety side but I used to be prescribed it for helping me sleep but even on 75mg at night it didn't do anything so I don't bother with it anymore.

I was given Amitriptyline for Neuropathic Pain after I had treatment for cancer. Do read the article patient.co.uk/health/neurop... It explains about the two types of pain we can experience.

I do know that also it may be prescribed for anxiety and for depression. You do need to use it for a while, (a few weeks) to feel the full benefit. Also, it can make you feel sleepy.
