Keep walking Healthunlockeders, you might see something like this while your out.

My Mum joined me on my Worcester River walk today, she's just over 80 and has a dodgy right knee so for once I had to slow up a little for somebody else. She like me likes to watch out for any wildlife and it wasn't long before we saw something, a large Rat was darting in and out from the river bank and stealing some food that had been scattered for the pigeons in a busy area. People were sat on benches only yards away, I wonder what they would have done if they had seen what was running about so close to them.

Of coarse the rat did a disappearing act once I got my camera out but it wasn't long before something far more interesting came along, it was a cormorant trying to swallow an eel for lunch. You will have to excuse my steroid induced shaky hand but I did my best to capture some of this battle on video.

After our surprise entertainment we walked on down the river bank, there were sand martins and swallows skimming the water searching for fly's, a heron flew over us and landed in the top of an old oak tree for a vantage point to watch and see what us humans are up to today.

I didn't think Mum would be able to do the full walk that I normally do but to my surprise she made it to the river bridge which is the half way point so that kind of meant she now had to do the full distance as I might struggle to carry her back. :)

On the return side of the river we stopped at Diglis weir where there were 3 swans and a Heron on the far side as I had seen last week, it must be a favorite spot for them to hang out.

We passed two chestnut trees heavily loaded with their spiky little cases and there was a walnut tree also with a few, much larger smoother looking cases that were just out of my reach. Oh well they'll be squirrel food soon no doubt and they probably need them more than me.

Mums legs were complaining now but we were close to the car park with just the main river bridge to cross, there was one last bit of entertainment though, as I was watching some rowers on the river mum witnessed a car driver trying to get through a gap that wasn't there and the other vehicle was a bus. You can guess who won that battle cant you.

Finally we were sat back in the car resting and reflecting on what turned out to be quite an eventful walk by the river.

Keep walking if you can healthunlockeders, its good for us and there's all sorts of surprises waiting to be seen once your out and about.

Tony

Sorry Sonia, I'm off to the Birmingham QE hospital tomorrow, they want to see if a small operation I had done on my bum has completely healed before they put me back on the transplant list. So this is one dream walk you really wouldn't want to cyber join with me and picture in your imagination all that goes on. :) .

I wish that I was going to the beach tomorrow but getting back on the Transplant list has to come first I guess. Tony xx

Getting out and about and exercising in any way you can is a must do with our conditions so well done for joining a gym. I've got my own mini gym in the garage with my treadmill, exercise bike + a few small weights set up and all ready to go when the weather turns. My old HiFi is out there to so look out neighbors its gonna get noisey. Rock on Irene. :)

Hi Wendells, it was probably their gene's that pulled me through the initial double pneumonia which was a very very close run thing.

There's great news on the transplant front to, after the consultant checked the abscess he said he would recommend that I can be put back on the transplant list.

They have a meeting every Thursday so I could be back on tomorrow all being well.

You have time for a gentle stroll along the river. I wish, got the caravan to get ready for Winter as well as the boat. This weekend it's up to daughter's to help unpack the furniture that is arriving after being in storage. I have oxy being delivered all over the country. I love it when a plan comes together!

Think I prefer your beautiful and calming stroll hero.

Enviously your

Dozy :) x x x with love

Closing my eyes and visualising the river. Good luck on your journey to QE and get yourself back on that list asap !

Well done to you Tony and to your amazing mum. What a lovely photo of the two of you. Not sure about your companions though, as they don't look very happy. Loved the video too and what a plucky little bird. Keep going Tony and enjoy your walks. It is nice here today so I may take a walk too. Our daughter-in-law is out and about today in the hope that she can encourage her overdue baby to be born.

Good luck at the Hospital. Take care. xxxxxx

Looks a great walk & the nature fight was interesting, I guess the eel won. Pleased you & mum enjoyed it, as did I. x

Sounds like one very interesting walk with your mum Tony. I only get those sort of walks when on holiday. But thank you for taking the time to write and tell us about it. This morning I was watching the blue tits in my garden have a Fuschia bush that's more like a tree that attracts lots of birds, although we live in an industrial area. Enjoy, wish I could join you.

Hi Tony glad to see your still out and about I go out every day for a walk with our lab I stop more time to catch my breath but its better than sitting on the sofa and falling asleep.

We have a lake near by we often see rats but they are just the local councillors from the council office and a lot more nasty than the one you saw.

Your mum looks fantastic for 80 must be something in the water

Who were the other "walkers" by your side? I saw the video, not easy to catch the bird!

I went to the gym yesterday for an hour. Then I went to see a friend and play chess with him for another hour. Then He told me it was time to go. I went toward the bus stop, saw 2 passing by and thought, blow it, I shall go on foot. 1.6 mile took ,e 30 minutes. I checked on Google map. The description of the walk for normal people is 28 minutes! I was shattered by the end of the day and slept from 9 pm till 5 am. But the sun gets up later than I do now!

Have a lovely day, Dall and Mum!
