Anyone been recently been diagnosed with a bilateral pulmonary embolism. I have been following ACE community and have had some good advice. Just searching for more information.

I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago and to be honest it has been a whirlwind. From the point of finding out, then having to visit the warfarin clinic. At the moment it is an 'unknown PE' and I am waiting for my consultant to review the results scans and tests etc.

I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience and how serious is this. I have read the NHS website but not one professional has told me what is happening or how I should proceed at the moment. Also has anyone had any experince with this diagnosis and Kent Canterbury Hospital / QEQM at Margate.

My partner had one last November. It cut off the supply one lung and half the other. She was lucky to survive. She had stopped breathing, I was upstairs and she made an effort to crawl to the bottom of the stairs to attract my attention. It is this action that probably forced her heart to work overtime and force the oxygenated blood past the massive clot. She was in hospital for a week and when sent home all they did was take blood samples and gave her Warfarin, the amount depending on the blood results. No other information was given, like after effects. It was a few months later that we finally saw the scan. Maybe some hospitals are different than others. The thing was the size of a walnut ! In my opinion she still suffers the affects of it and, although the medics haven't said, it is my thoughts that she is suffering from Pulmonary hypertension. If you would like to chat to her, I can send you a link to another lung site she is on by PM.
