No expert here, still on a learning curve. So.... All I can recommend is what my GP advised at my last visit when I was given a rescue pack (antibiotics+pred) and sample jars... Don't mess around get a sputum sample sent off. If there are bugs in there best to get treatment started ASAP xx
Agree with Isme you do need to get a sputum sample off David and see your GP. If your sputum is darker than is your norm it would indicate there may be some bacterial infection going on.
Glad you have been free for 4 years. As I expect you know the flu jab contains all the strains of flu virus they are expecting that year and so has no bearing on a bacterial infection, except to say many of us do get secondary bacterial infections following a virus.
Best make an emerency appointment to have your chest listened to in the morning.
If something is there it can be caught early. Dont wait for the 'next appointment available'. Better to be safe than sorry. If there's infected sinus gunk it can get to your airways. Sinus infection can make you feel awful & down too.
In the meantime, get some Vit C in. 1000mg 3x daily to give your immune system a blast, effervesant tablets in a pint of water to get plenty of fluids in too.
