I have rare bouts of gout but every time it flairs up my lungs get gooey. I am peaking at 90% O2 at rest. I am also having more Sleep apnoea episodes Anyone else have this happen?
Or is my lungs causing the Gout?

Many of us with copd also suffer swollen feet or ankles. Maybe high blood pressure. This is often treated with a diuretic, (water pill) to reduce excess fluid and salts. A good treatment as it works. The usual prescription is for Furosemide. However, over long term use this can in itself cause gout. It you are taking a water pill look at that as the possible culprit and have a word with your doctor.

i have had gout for 40 years or so, it is under control with 200mgm of alopurinoll a day: when i have the very rare touch of it these days it doesn`t affect my breathing.
I take arcoxia (I think it is spelt that way) This last bout has been bought about by a trauma to my arthritic foot my fracture clinic doctor told me? He also said I need to put a flat steel plate in my right shoe to stop my foot bending?
I also have AF. I voted to have it controlled although yes agreed AF will effect your O2 levels further. I would think with AF though it is more to do with the irregular heartbeat, or it speeding up too much. We both live with two devils..
Hi Offcut,
I get the swelling in my ankles but that's all, I have never been diagnosed with gout?
Take care
