Thanks anyway Suzy, x

Hi Chrystine ! I've had several bronchoscopies and had no problems at all. Each time I've had sedation - an injection of diazepam after the throat has been numbed and immediately before the rest of the procedure. This means Iferl nothing and come to when it's finished. And with the diazepam in my system I always have a good sleep afterwards. Having the local anaesthetic sprayed on your throat is a little bit uncomfortable for a few seconds but nothing to speak of really. Good Luck tomorrow !

I had the same experience as Argana too. Was fine although I was slightly aware of the procedure happening but I wasn't distressed or anything. Good luck.

Hi Marie, I had it done, was hoping to watch it all on the screen but the sedation kicked in and I was asleep through it all. I made the mistake of checking out the procedure online which made me apprehensive. All done now, just have to wait for the results in two weeks time. many thanks xx

So glad it went well for you! Now you have had it I can tell you I was fully awake when I had mine. the sedative didn't really work. I watched it on the screen. Fascinating stuff. There were 2 students also watching who came up to afterwards and asked if I had been fully awake as they could tell. It was fine, just gutted that I missed out on the lovely sleep all the other patients having the procedure got...

Nope not really. Coughed a little during the procedure I suppose when they were doing the washings but apart from that, it really was fine. Like I say everyone after me came out totally zonked and slept for ages. I was wide awake reading a book and drinking tea!

I am sorry I can't but I would like to wish you all the best, lots of love TAD xx

Hi Christyne, it is probably all done with now, and like me I hope that the sedation for this procedure means that you don't recall anything of it. When I had mine my lungs were washed too-nothing like lovely clean lungs eh? :-)

Hi Polly, had it done, slept through it all, think they flushed my lungs too? cant remember to be honest, still spitting up bits of phlem but that might be the residue fron the pnumonia that I had ?definately feels looser.

Fabulous, and I am sure the flushing of the lungs does really help get the bugs out more quickly. A tip perhaps? Watch someone else's bronchoscopy on a screen! Haha, get well soon eh? X

Hello Christyne,

Here is a factsheet about bronchoscopy that we produced for one of our projects. You can ignore the bits about the project 'U-BIOPRED' but you might find the rest helpful. It includes an account of having a bronchoscopy by a person involved in the project. europeanlung.org/assets/fil...

Good luck!
