I have a telephone interview for pip on Monday, can anyone give me some tips please
Tell them your bad days are you able to walk etc
but tell them everything. .I had a lovely lady who actually came to the house she was able to see how far I could walk and looked at medication.let them know what medication you.like oxygen. Hope all goes well. Let us know how it goes.
Remember it's not about what condition you have but how your condition effects your daily living. Do you feel too weary to make yourself something to eat? Are you able to see to self hygiene needs without assistance e.g. washing your hair? Do you have difficulty walking and have to stop after a very short distance? Don't fall into the trap of not mentioning things you have difficulty with because you have become so use to them. Like struggling to get out of a chair because you might have weakened leg muscles for example. Honest but thorough. Wishing you good luck.
Citizens advice have a great website. I recently had my assessment which took 1 hour 45 min! So be prepared. Have a copy of your application next to you and be prepared for unusual questions, ie, have you been to college or university, do you have pets etc. These questions were at the beginning of the assessment but returned to throughout, which did throw me a little at times. Just remember to tell the truth and make sure that you talk about your bad days, not the time to pretend that you can still do everything 😊 the assessment is based on how safe each activity is, how much longer it takes than average person and whether you can repeat it. Hope this helps and all goes well for you.
I had mine via telephone and had a very nice gentleman. I had to explain in more depth what I could or couldn't do. I was more relaxed doing it this way and before he hung he wanted to make sure I had my inhalers close by because my breathing was bad, I reassured it was but not to worry as it was normal for me. Due to his report I was put up to the premium level in both sections but I cant get the mobility upgrade as I am over pensionable age.
My phone call was short only lasted about 15 min he never even asked me my name to check he was speaking to the right person I was a bit concerned about what he would ask me as I didn't have a copy of my form and a nice chap from welfare rights came to my home and filled it in for me I was a bit thrown wen he asked me about my heart problems as I don't have one but the outcome was good and kept my enhanced mobility and got enhanced care as well also got my decision a lot quicker than he said I would and also awarded for ten years
What everybody else has said, really! Is this the first time you’ve claimed? They will ask questions based on the answers you gave on the application. It’s worth having a good look at that and having it with you to refer to. Try to set the pace of the interview - don’t let them rush you so you don’t answer fully. It might be worth having somebody with you, so they can prompt you. Tell them about your worst days - how far you can walk on your worst day - Etc.
Despite 39% lung function and severe COPD I had my first application refused and had to go to tribunal and then appeal. Appeal is horrible - you are in court - but over 60% of appeals are successful.
Best of luck, Pet!
I went to tribunal February just before lockdown they were lovely from the time I went in , had read all my hospital papers and just asked what was happening on a day to day bases got more than I thought so don’t be frightened to go please
how long did you wait for a second appeal
I've been told you need to describe your condition on worst says . Tell them every detail. You will be used to some restrictions which will horrify others. Think about how your condition stops you doing normal things and how the extra money would help. Perhaps that's taxis, electronic gadgets, dehumidifier, vitamins, extra heating , telephone bill, tv costs etc etc. Good luck!
Hi if you live on your own don't just reply yes when asked if you can do something you find difficult. If for example you have a problem showering say what steps you have to take and how long it takes you. The criteria is to be able to do something in a safe and timely manner. Good luck.
I've had mine few minutes ago it lasted for 15 minutes
nothing grrrr
