Hi, is anyone else suffering with the high humidity levels?

Humidity
Yes Dido,not nice at all...x
Yep it is horrible
The more humid the air, the less oxygen (and other gases) it contains:

Quote:
'For any gas, at a given temperature and pressure, the number of molecules present in a particular volume is constant ... So when water molecules (vapor) are introduced into that volume of dry air, the number of air molecules in the volume must decrease by the same number, if the temperature and pressure remain constant. . . .'
Yes the humidity always affects by breathing, I also find that low pressure affects me too.
Yes, Dido all of last week was terrible. We had a thunderstorm the other day and I thought that would help. but it didn't . We had another one today and the humidity has not improved. I was thinking of buying a fan although I know it only blows the air around and does not lessen the humidity. Last year, I bought a little fan which you plug into your laptop which then powers it. It moves to all different angles, so if its hot and you are on the laptop, it can be positioned really close and helps cool you down. hugs xxx
When I was at the rehab clinic (very recently) they told us all to buy one of those little hand fans and to use it whenever we needed to - outside ,indoors...even in the shower room, or in the car, etc..(especially around the face).I haven't bought one yet but I am going to ...like all of you the humidity doesn't help me at all and I stupidly went out into the garden just after a friend of mine had cut the grass (it is a huge wild garden surrounded by fields, - I have been renting an old farm house for years) and I felt utterly ghastly within minutes....I have never reacted quite so badly or so quickly....ho hum
Hi Louisiana, I have been meaning to buy one of those little ones to carry around with me when I am outside. I think I will also buy a larger one for indoors, and of course I have the one I can plug into the laptop which is surprisingly good. My cat doesn't like it much, but it helps keep him away from my laptop, which most cats seem mesmorised by!
Hope you are well now, hugs xx
Oh yes , it's awful, but you know what, it's comforting in a way to feel like I am not suffering alone!! I seem to be okay in the morning but by lunch time I am no use to anyone. I hope you feel okay today
Yes me also, weather changes affect my breathing quite dramatically.
Yes, it is awful. I've got my hand held fans out, never without them in this weather.
Just a word of warning, Keep those little fans away from your hair, or keep your hair away from the fan by tieing it back, my niece got tangled in one a few years back, took ages to get it out and she had to have a whole new hair cut. don't bother me coz I;m bald.
thanks everyone for all your comments, glad it was not just me will have to get one of those fans.
hi dido yes i have not good
Humidity or is the change for told by the barometer changing. I suffer from chronic R-knee pain. This has continued since botch knee replacement surgery 11 years ago. I've tried numerous prescription drugs including morphine, tens unit, heat and circulating ice water. All methods have baggage. I guess when new developments are done in stem cell therapy to repair nerves, I'll just have to rotate use on some of these tools. I also seem to have pains elsewhere in the body extremities but these seem to occur more with having a cold or the flu then just humidity. Sure would l like a new tool to use. I did pick-up on the fact that sitting or laying down bothers my knee more than upright, so perhaps others can track what motion or position exasperates their own pain issue.
I also didn't know humidity reduces available oxygen, explains why feeling so breathless last few days - thanks for info - will spread round other mutual interest groups.
To be honest I don't know whether the reduction would be great enough to make a significant difference, I've been unable to find any mention of it in articles about the effect of humidity on COPD.
But I do know that last night, in my part of the world, humidity was 88% and my resting oximeter reading was 94/95%, whereas tonight humidity is 60% and oximeter reads 96/97% . . .
strange thing this humidity malarkey ......... surely a saline nebuliser has a similar effect, & yet I generally feel so much better after a blast of saline vapour.
