To slump or not to slump.

Starting to feel like a human being at last, the Shingles haven’t been as bad as they could have been, just annoying because they prevented me getting the cataracts seen to on my other eye.

All of us are trying to get the best out of our lives that sometimes I can’t help thinking that perhaps not all of the advice we get from the medical staff is right for us. We are all so different that it seems quite logical that what is good for one might not be good the other.

Only last week the respiratory nurse jumped all over me because I was slumped down while sitting on the couch . . . . . slumped? so what! I was comfortable!

At night I try sleeping propped upright in bed to aid my breathing but inevitably find my body almost flat against the mattress . . . . and why? Because once again, I am comfortable

Are the rest of you as disobedient or do you find that doing it by the book is the right way to go?

Disobedient frequently ! The trouble with the book is that the author fails to update it regularly and fails dismally to recognise that what suits one, does not suit another :) xx

The choice of living your life as comfortably as you can or being miserable for the duration - there is no contest in my book (and since I'm the author I can change whatever I flippin like!)

Hi there eightyplus what book is that then? lol!Yes I too am a rebel and disobedient.I do find sitting on sofa's now uncomfortable I guess where my lungs are so blimming long they get all scrunched up on low seating.I cant sleep propped up though.I do believe there isa way to suggest to us what might be better without being to headmistressy about it,we are all different and they should account for this. There are too many bossy boots about ! You stay comfy :) Janexx

Hehe totally disobedient too!

It's strange though because for years I couldn't lie flat and needed at least 3 pillows, even had one of those prop up things (which was dreadful although I used it for ages.) Nowadays I regularly wake up flat and off the pillows and feeling comfortable having actually got some decent sleep time.

It's like the illness changes its parameters every so often ... very peculiar! Anyone else find this?

Glad I am not the only disobedient one on here, the naughty step could have been a lonely place without all of you to keep me company.
