Like a shoulder bag, so that if I go out socially I don't have to take the bulky NHs ones.

Hi

The bag is subject to the size of cylinder, I do not think they do a bag for size 300 the bag for 400 as shoulder straps, can be carried like a back pack , still rather large.

Reference shoulder bag this sounds like Liguide oxygen , which can be carried like a shopping bag or worn across the chest or back. The lightest

flask is 2.2 kg.. Can you to use liquid oxygen ?

I found this not sure if available in UK or will suit your cylinders.

Have you spoke to your oxygen provider they may have some contact details.

Your oxygen provider will have all the info and supply the equipment if you've been prescribed it. I get 2 x large cylinders for home and 6 x small ones for the backpack for going out. Didn't have to ask either. You do have to remember to ask for new cannulas when you need them.

Firework hi westwalespaul thankyou for the information, I have been on oxygen before a couple of times just for six weeks then I was able to come off it, but this time it is for good I have never been out with oxygen so I will have to get used to it, I'm ashamed to say its vanity doesn't seem very feminine wearing a back pack.

Laura Croft always wore a back pack in the Tomb Raider game ...lol just joking Fireworks yes there is a pack which is about the same size as the small cylinder but as you say not very feminine but at least you can breath when you're out .I put mine in shopping trolley hardly ever use it walking about .coz of vanity I guess good luck

Hi firework. I can totally relate to your situation. I have been on oxygen for 6 months now and find it difficult to visit my own high street. I just don't feel ready to face the aquaintances I might meet there. Don't get me wrong, they won't be unkind - its just the sympathetic looks and/or shocked questions which I know I will face. I am able, now, to go shopping elsewhere and even used a mobility scooter in a shopping centre last week. I am only 63 but get breathless quickly when walking. The scooter meant that my hubby and I could spend longer at the shops and 'walk' farther.

Anyway, to answer your question. The equipment you can get free/hire/purchase is entirely dependent on what litreage of oxygen you are prescribed. I panicked when I was told I needed to be on it, searched the internet for equipment and found a few designs I liked. However my litreage was to high for all of them, cue gallons of tears!

So the first thing to know is - what is your litreage? Then see what your provider can offer for free. Then I recommend you settle into knowing your routine well before purchasing anything of your own. These machines can be very expensive.
