This is where my panic begins.

Stupid I know and I feel such a baby. I have lost my lift to work today and have been in panic mode since I got up. Do I walk to Bus Stop and catch a bus and take up the challenge or be a coward and spend £10 on a mini cab. Anyone would think it was Everest instead of 20 minute walk on my own. Think that's part of the panic being on my own. Hey ho an hour to decide.

Hi, I panic if I have to walk on my own too, I was fine last weekend with my daughter, it's all part of the breathing problem I think. Any stress can add to the difficulty. Best of luck and look after yourself

Hi, how about leave earlier and start walking but taking your time. Maybe listen to music so you don't feel alone. If you get to the point where you feel you can't keep walking call a taxi to pick you up. Just keep calm and try not to stress about it. You'll be ok :)

No need to feel you're on your own. You'll be surprised how many people will stop and ask if you're ok. .

Suzy I hope the journey to work was not as traumatic as you were fearing and you are having a great day xx

Thank you all for your replies helped me over the hurdles. I took 2 puffs Ventolin before I left and when I shut front door two deep breathes and went for it. Got a bit sob but just did purse lip breathing and kept going. No music as I'm a bit deaf and would have to have it blasting. I think some of the panic was being on my own. Take care xx

Well done! x

Well done Suzy ! Hope it gets easier now that you've conquered the fear and done it once.

Well done Suzy, for conquering your fear! Keep that ventolin on you,& have a puff when you feel you need it,good idea you had,to use it before you go.Give yourself a pat on the back! xxx

This happens whenever I go out somewhere different alone. Once I have done it I can do it again. I like to know the spots where I can stop and rest. The trouble is that this stupid disease changes from day to day and what I could do yesterday might not be possible today.

I don't go to work any more, But I can share this video about acute shortness of breath and how to recover from it.

If you start feeling SOB, stop everything and do this exercise ... and take your time.

Perhaps, you will find another friend who can give you a lift. Take it easy!
