Hi

For long term oxygen therapy it will be a ABG arterial blood gasses test from the wrist or ear.

For Ambulatory oxygen it will be a six minute walk test. Which is the one I did.

The hour is so you can discuss your needs without being under pressure.

It allows you to decide the type of equipment you need subject to the outcome of the test.

It quite relaxed and informal

Good luck..

Thank you for your reply. I am a bit concerned about the 6 minute walk test which I have done before but now feel I am not up to that after my last exacerbation as I get very puffed walking just a few steps.

Hi

I am similar , I only completed three minutes, they only need to see our your sats behave when under excertion to adjust your oxygen if needed. Just do it at your pace, stop when you need to.

Thanks again, I doubt even if I could do 3 minutes and I know my sats will fall to the low 80s. I will repost when I have been.

Hi Eepee Please don't worry about the tests, I am sure they wont make you do anything you do not feel up to

I hope that all goes well, and they look after you

Do let us know how you got on

I am on oxygen 24/7. Last time they did an assessment check I kept my oxygen on for the walking test and they adjusted the flow as I walked! On 8Lpm I wouldn't have gone very far on no oxygen! I was able to complete 6mins.
