ahh just seen other thread,, but still, any help would be appreciated.
You can get things online called buddies I think and they clip onto your glasses, holding your tubing. Was just reading about them a few days ago. I think they were about 5 or 6 pounds. Hope this helps xx
thanks poppy,m will try for something like that,,, but really need something now,,, ears really sore jimmy xx
Hi
While you resolving the issue try this.
Place your head through the cannula so it is round you neck .
Rotate so the tubing is at the rear,
Fit cannula to nose, pull tubing back over ears, and slide tube clamp to tighten behind your head
hi stone, thanks, i have been trying that, it is helping [mind you nearly strangled myself in the process lol] but,, def a lot better,, many thanks indeed,,,jimmy
Hi jimmy, I used to suffer the same but my ears have toughened now so no more pain. You could try packing a bit of cotton wool between the tube and your ears, that's what the nurses used to do when I was in ITU. Getting it to stay in place is the trick though. Also some moisturiser cream helps too.
Tony
hi dall05 would you believe i cant even find cotton wool in the house, [i live on my own, and a wee bitty disabled, cant get about so easy] but i do have moisturising cream though,
but what i have done before reading your post, is put [dont laugh] asda,s nappy cream on, i think my carer brought this for my hands at some time., it says on the tub," protective barrier cream," "anti-bacterial", and "hypoallergenic". it seems to have eased it slightly,,,, but to put oxygen back on soon..
Just a foot note Jimmy I believe you need to use an oil free cream now that your on oxy,it can be a fire hazard ? please be careful me darling . Janexx
ah you have got something there jane never thought of that,,,many thanks, i will wipe it off now, clean it, then put oxygen on.
at least it has soothed it a little during the break from it. that was good of you jane,,,,a big thanks
jimmy xxx
i was looking at the other post "nasal canula and sore ears" looks like you can get some sort of shield
Yes i was reading that the other day they sound good,in the mean time can someone bring you some cottonwool in do you think? Goodluck Janexx
this is me just ready for bed now, its an operation in itself lol, however i feel ok, just tired a little, but all medications done, and oxygen on.
i will get someone to get cottonwool tomorrow jane, i have carer in the morning but too late to get her to bring it now, but will definitely get someone tomorrow to get some,i am so glad you told me of that poss. fire hazard,, it just goes to show, we live and learn goodnight jane, many thanks for your help/advice, kindest regards,,,jimmy xx
Hi
From a previous post
Hi jimmy can't offer any advice, but just want to say its good to see you back on the site, hope your ok x
I wrap mine with elastoplast
hi morrid, thanks for your reply,
last night, i wrapped the tubing at the ear, with micropore, you know that kind of dressing plaster stuff they use in the hospitals to stick on with cotton wool after an injection, it seemed to help in my bed last night,,,,, but this morning not so good,
the whole oxygen tubing completely taken off during the night, must have did it in my sleep, pillows, covers all over the place, even on the floor, i sleep sitting up,[fused spine] but must have slipped down the bed, i think i have been fighting mike tyson in my sleep,,,, but oxygen levels quite low this morning, didnt feel so good 5am, so at the moment doing nebs, medication, catheter bags[bits of blood in that] etc, oxygen back on now,,, carer comes about 10 ish.,, i am just coming round a little now,,,but room for improvement, but not a good night,,,,,,i shall need to find some way that is going to keep this oxygen canula "locked on",,,not at my best at the moment.
,kind regards jimmy
Hi Jimmyw123, They gave me some covers to put around the tubing at the oxygen clinic so you could ask there. They also gave me some of their own cannulas which are softer than the norm. Hard to know what to ask for unless they are offered to you isn't it? Good luck with it all.Popplewell
thanks poppywell, ..the ears are not quite so bad today, i think the micropore is helping a bit, i am now waiting a friend bringing cotton wool, so will try that,, regards,,,jimmy
daft I know, but when my ears get sore I wear a baseball cap with an opened-out paperclip poked through each side above where my ears are. I then just hook the tube to rest on the opened paperclip instead of my ear.
Whilst hanging the tubes on my glasses was a bit of a relief to my ears, my nose developed quite painful indentations, so I stopped doing that.
...... works for me.
Yes Jimmy was a post not long ago and think it was ear buddies, hope you can get some relief as you have enough going on. Take care.X
hi june, good to hear from you, hope your keeping well, i did look up about these ear buddies, from the other post.
strangely enough i wore the oxygen for a few hours during this day, after a bad night, and my ears seem to have been a little better, but i will be in touch with the resp nurse tomorrow, see if she can help, i have a little micropore wrapped around the tube just now, it does seem to have helped a little..
i,ll just need to get my lugs toughened up a bit lol
best regards jimmy xx
hi oscars, many thanks for the link,,,,i can imagine how valuable the sore nose saver would be especially if you had the cold,,
i phoned the oxygen company, they have now sent the shoulder bag for the portable cylinders, and are forwarding on, the ear protectors and a face mask,,i just wonder if i pushed my luck and asked if they have sore nose savers!!!,, no harm in trying,, thanks oscar kind regards ,,jimmy
