I had a Medix .... it did exactly the same thing, the 12-volt died while I was away in the motorhome in Spain - absolute disaster. After returning home & after a lot of research trawling traveller & chesty-type discussion groups, I eventually bought a Flo-Lite CA-MI-lite nebuliser ...... hell, it's good. Had it for over 4-years now, it's used twice a day,$and, having a motorhome, I travel a lot.
Anyway, here are the details .....

Maplins sells a portable neb under part no L31AL made in Germany by Polygreen. It works really well and can run on 240v a/c mains, has an adapter which runs off the car cigarette lighter socket, and also has a rechargeable battery pack which can be purchased separately giving a third power option.
of course, the other very feasable option is to keep your Medix & get a 12v-240v inverter that plugs into the car's cig.lighter socket & will convert the 12-volt supply to 240-volt with a normal 3-pin household-type output socket. I should think 150-watt would be plenty enough power, but worth first checking the specification of your Medix (or I can if you let me know the exact model you have).
Here's a link to one on eBay which will cost about £16 ........ assuming 150-watt is OK. The manufacturer, Ring, are very good.
