Hi I wrote while back about my dads fall as a result of chest infection and his admission to hospital. Having had two IV cycles of Tazocin his infection recurred quickly and he had to be moved from rehab unit to respitory ward. He's now on mereprenem IV. Does anyone know of its effectiveness? Also is it normal to have so many infections so close together? He's 84 and only diagnosed 2 years ago.

I am sorry I can't answer your question but would suggest you ring the blf helpline - click on red balloon in corner. Good luck with love and good wishes TAD xx
Hi there, poor chap. I would do as Tad suggests in calling the helpline, office hours, cost of a local call from landlines. 03000 030 555
All the best to him, you too x P
Thank you both. Will try the helpline as suggested
Thanks Flibberti. Just to follow up. Dad was almost being discharged last week with a CRP of 42. We weren't happy with that and knew something brewing which it was. 5 days on mereprenem has lowered CRP to 6. It's been a while since its been that low. Hoping and praying that he continues in the right direction.
