Hello and welcome, Gillbear. Sorry to hear you are unwell. It took me many months to recover from my pneumonia, but if you think your condition is deteriorating, then please don't hesitate to seek medical advice. As for the leg spasms, that I am unsure of, as I've only ever had foot and hand cramps, but those can be attributed to my inhaled medications. Have you been supplied with an emergency pack of antibiotics and steroids? If so, I'd start taking them, but do remember to let your doctor know as soon as possible. Do please let us know how you get on, and again, welcome to the community :) x

Sorry I can't give you more help other than advise you to see your doctor! M x

Hello Gillbear,

It can take a long time to recover from pneumonia, however I would still seek medical advice regarding your current symptoms just to be sure especially as you say you are feeling more unwell past few days.

If you can attend walk in clinic or try to get an appointment with your doctor asap, if there is a delay on face to face appointments, ask for telephone appointment that day, say its urgent, you have worsening of symptoms etc.

If you need further advise today, don't hesitate to call NHS direct :

Hope you will soon be feeling better.

Best wishes BC

I agree with all the advice, it took me months to get over both bouts I've had so don't despair.

Yes, do contact doc as above.

The leg spasms could possibly be a side effect of the medication so ask about that too. I don't know what meds you are on, but sometimes my meds make bits of my body have uncontrollable twitches, very annoying.

Hope this all resolves asap.

A visit from the doctor I think, ask for a house call if possible as you don't sound well enough to be going out. There are a lot of side effects with most medicine, I find I get very painful spasms/cramps when I finish taking a course of steroids, in my legs feet and hands. I hope you start feeling better soon, it takes a long time to build yourself up after a serious illness so don't forget to take plenty of rest and nutrition, try getting your 5 a day and a little of what you fancy! Best Wishes for a speedy recovery, hufferpuffer :) x
