I had a tad of acid reflux .. And yep will make lung condions tad worse or ashtma what ever case may be.

Well i assume your talking about acid reflux

Vitamin b12 will help your lungs restore the protective coat that protects from acid reflux damaging your lungs ... always ask your GP first

But a. Hernia or how ever its spelt can cause acid reflux

I only no about the little flap that open and closes when you eat or breath can become slugish and this one cause of acid reflux

Need to drink plenty of water keep your self hydrated

Sure others will be along soon with there experances or give BLF a call or email

Hope that helps

Hi, I suffer with acid reflux and so was prescribed omeprazole 20mg. I just take one each morning and its no more. Its so important I think to find a solution a sore pipe an throat is all we need!!

Hi Vikkilee, when you were diagnosed with Gord, were you not advised on a course of treatment and what foods to avoid? If not I would seek that information from your doctor who will be able to prescribe you the appropriate medication.

You can search on-line adding NHS, UK (or other country of residence) which will bring up information I am sure. Here is one from NHS Choices:

nhs.uk/Conditions/Gastroeso...

Its important to treat the Gord.

Hope you get this under control quickly.

Take good care

I was diagnosed yesterday, but to day I've found out I'm pregnant again, as well as my asthma medication not working neither it seems does my contraception !!! He said to stay away from caffeine and fizzy drinks all the usual things that cause acid. They didn't prescribe me anything really he said he would rather me see a consultant :/

I would take the doc up on referral to a consultant but in the meant time you need something to settle the reflux, I think I once had Ranitidene which you take about 30 mins before food if I recall.

Congratulations with the new little one :)

Take good care of yourself.

Yes, Ranitidine. Marvellous, brand name Zantac. It used to be prescription only and cost NHS £1 per tablet - 20 odd years ago! Now supermarkets do their own Ranitidine and it's usually called Indigestion Tablet and is 1/3 the cost of Zantac. I have a pack in every room and hand bag at the moment. I worry that they alter the absorbs ion of other meds like Mucodyne.

Vikkilee, avoid acid and fatty foods, at least that won't affect the pregnancy.

some sufferers sleep with top half raised up on several pillows to relieve the condition at night or when horizontal.

Did you have an endoscopy for diagnosi?

It's really important to get gord or reflux treated to prevent stomach matter getting into airways - particularly if you have asthma - because this can lead to something else, bronchiectasis (as told by 2 GPs and a consultant).

Check out British websites re eating for gord .

Goodness, do look after yourself, I hope you have a good support network. Peeg

Also Vikkilee do make the doctor aware you are pregnant when asking for medication to help this problem.

Best wishes BC

Congratulations vikkilee, that's fantastic news! I mean the little one in you!

As for your asthma, I'm sure your doctor/consultant should prescribe something like omeprazole or lanzopraxole. As a man, I don't know if pregnancy provokes reflux.

Do they want to examine your esophagus (gullet) before giving you any treatment? They could start you on something, as the medication mentioned above are standard for GORD. Hope you see your doctor soon to sort all this out and make you feel better.

Hi Vikkilee.

I have asthma and bronchiectasis also scarred lung.

I also have a heistas hernia that dazisnotsogood spoke of.

The result is IM ON FIRE with a very irritated oesophagus ( throat ).

For this I use an acid reflux medicine Lansoprazole and for the stomach flap not closing and allowing acid to rise........domperidone.

They are both very affective but they are prescribed drugs so your doctor would have to prescribe them for you if appropriate.

Tom.
