Hi mahunamoon I don't like taking prednisone an like you they keep me awake at night, I've just come back from a holiday an the Dr gave me another antibiotic called Erythromycin in my emergence pack as I can't take penicillin also this tablet was better because I was going to a hot country, luckily I didn't have to take it, but since being home I have, my normal antibiotic is Doxycycline this with the steroids don't seem to work very well that's what I think, so far so good with the Erythromycin with out the steroids,this tablet don't agree with a lot of people but if it works for me I will be getting the Dr to change me an keep me on this, I know there is going to be a time when I will have to go on the steroids but we will just have to wait an see, So mahunamoon it might be worth just changing your antibiotic take care lol xxx

Always take prednisolone as soon as you get up with some food, you are more likely to be able to get to sleep.

yes thanks rick1 I took them at 5am after a biscuit, then followed by a coffee, and im still awake and shattered, may go lay down in a min..... 2 days 2 nights no sleep doesnt help one to get well, tut never mind Joan x

Good morning all to you. I do have the same problems with the steorids. When I take 8 for a week I am also shattered and try not to drink coffee, it will help too.

When I cut them down after a week it getting better. My doctor also give them together with clarithromycin. Take care!!! And get better again

Had to take 6 every moring for 7 days, phewwww only 4 days left, also I use decaf tea and coffee

yes I too am taking 6 every morning for up to 5 days will be glad to finish never used before and on day 3 now....... tells me to take this amount right to day 5 if hve to have not been told to gradually stopx

When I have a flair up my GP gives me the same steroids 8per day for 4 days you have to take the 8 all together and yes its a good way to take them with breakfast.

Yes thanks I got it all worked out now take em 5am, then I got 4 hours sleep it was heaven last night lol Joan x

antibiotics work against bactial infections steriods work against viral infections with both you finish the course.

I knew I blew it not taking meds till about 7 30 am on sat, well its 1 15 sun, had to get up, now been in bed since 10am I am sooooo annoyed and its getting me down, dont think I will take anymore theres only 2 or 3 days, but tiredness drives me nuts sorry about the winges silly me. Joan x

I HATE steroids, they make me feel dreadful straight off. Luckily I've only had them 3 times. Keep well, p xx

Hi Joan have you been on steroids? Did you find them ok only the last time I had them had to take 6 all at once for think it was a week and I couldn't breath after 3 days so came of them and I found it a lot easier. Great if they help its the first time I had that reaction to them wonder why? Rose

Hello victoriablue, Rose, yes I had 7 days steroids 6 every morning in water, and antibiotic medicine for 5 days, the steroids really pick me up, thought they were pep pills hahahha, I only felt bad when I could feel them wearing off, but the bad reaction it got this time only was them keeping me awake, never happened before, however on the opinions of this forum I started taking them at 5 am, and that did the trick, I really dont know why your breathing was so bad, I am sure I have read on this forum some other side effects of steroids, suppose you could ask blf nurse monday morning, or even add your own question on here, just an idea
