Hi Paddy,

Am I understanding you correctly when you say that you have lost your job, due to long periods of ill health, and the main problems are asthma and bronchiectasis? I see you live in Ireland so the rules about sick pay and things like that will may be different from the uk mainland.

I understand that you are upset at losing your job, and that you enjoyed it, as well as being good at it. Unfortunately life can deal you a bad hand some times, and we just have to adjust to that. Is there a Welfare Rights Office, or C.A.B. that you can go to get yourself started on benefits, because you are not earning any money. These people will help you fill in the correct forms and tell you all that you are entitled to. You probably also need help from your doctor, and be sure to tell whoever you see about your benefits or sick pay, what is wrong with you and what medication you are on. There must be some organisation in your country that helps people who are in need of guidance when they lose there job through sickness. If you do not know of any such group then ask your doctor or at the local library.

Good luck, and I hope you get your problems sorted out soon. hugs xx

marie my advice is to ring the blf up the number is 03000 030 555,explain your predicament to the nurses who have advicers who will help you with your problems, also thay more then likely will have info on contacts in Ireland who you can get help from, regarding your job loss and help with benefits etc, there open 10 am, Monday to Friday, its not much info marie but just ring the blf and explain,i think theres irish members on the forum if thay see your post thay will come on,and give you added advice, but ring the blf up in the morning and have a chat, wishing you wellxxx

Hi Paddy, here is a link to benefits and sickness rights in Southern Ireland, in case that is where you live. I am not sure if this link will work or not. If it doesn't then just google welfare rights and benefits in Eire. Good luck. hugs xxcitizensinformation.ie/en/

Hi Padddy,

I agree with twiceshy3, that it would also be a good idea to phone the BLF helpline as she suggested. The number is 03000030555. Good luck, and remember you are not alone. You can come on here anytime and there will usually be a few people around who can help you. hugs xx
