Any advise before we got and buy a new mattress? Have any of you had good or bad experiences. Thanks TAD xx

I bought a latex mattress for my asthmatic daughter years ago as I thought there would be less dust, but it was sweaty and didn't make any difference to her asthma.

I don't know about the new foam ones that mould to your body, they may be too warm.

You have to think about any fumes as well as dust

I bought a dust proof mattress cover from John Lewis, also use a thin duvet in a dustproof cover which can be washed on top of the mattress.

How about asking the Helpline before they close for the weekend for advice

I have a Tempur one - can get a bit warm but the adjustable bed is fantastic for me as I find it hard to sleep lying flat. The mattress is very comfortable and I think my asthma is a bit better for using it.

We have memory foam mattresses but find they are very warm even in the winter although we were told recently they have solved the problem by putting ventilation into the sides of the mattress.

We have a memory foam mattress but not Tempur. They do some great ones now that are not too hot as things can get a bit warm. I like the memory foam and so does Pete but would not be for everyone. xxxx

I like a sprung mattress with a top layer of memory foam. It gives you the support of the springs with a bit of softness on your bones.

I now have a firm base with 2 x 2" memory foam 'toppers' bought cheaply from the Shopping Channels.

Can't speak highly enough of memory foam, never a bad back in the last 6 years !

Sleep tight !

Hi My Hubby could not get a good sleep on a spring form mattress, and it was too hard for my Arthritis. We bought a Memory Foam Mattress, not a Topper a full mattress, cheaper off the Shopping Channel Bid TV. We have never looked back, that was about 6 or 7 years ago. So comfy.

Would highly recommend Tempur. Expensive, but worth every penny. I had gone through at least 20 mattresses and beds and as a last resort I bought a Tempur. This was about 7 years ago and I have never looked back. It is in the same condition as the day I bought it. ( I have a very bad back and the Tempur helps no end.).

Both my hubby with his hospital bed and me in my single (little girl) bed replaced our old mattresses with the memory foam with pressure point relief, cooling gel mattresses and we both love them. Not a cure all, mind you, but way better on our old bones aches than anything we have ever had.

I have a memory foam topper 7cm and it has improved my sleep by an hour or so. I have looked into these and there are a few out here that have been designed to allow cool air to move though the mattress.

It is all down to money
