I really don't know about Emphysema

Yesterday was a really good day and I was able to walk more than 2 kms (spaced over a couple of hours) and 5 kms on my exercise bike - no really exertion. I felt really good at this achievement! And yet today I find it hard just to climb the stairs without seriously getting puffed. Go figure - good one day - awful the next!!

I am just the same good breathing days and bad, even good breathing mornings and bad afternoons. This morning got out of bed at 6 am, felt almost normal, I wonder why it happens.

I`m like that too. Its worrying if you are planning to do something and you can only hope its going to be one of your good days.

I experience the same as you in that way--if I'm standing, there is room for air and I can breathe but as soon as I have to bend over to do something, like take the clothes out of the dryer and I'm done until I can collect some more oxygen--it's part of our problem and so sorry so many people are going through the same. Take care Mattcass xoxo

I like others on here don't understand why I can walk quite a distance slowly, in pain due to arthritis however, but speed it up and everything goes haywire. But try to lift or bend to do little things and the breathing is massively effected wondered if it was worse according to body position? And as stated by others no two days are the same, if I think about it I realize i never feel well, just better and worse feeling days. It's about mind over matter

I was very much like this too. My dr changed my Spiriva inhaler to Seebri (sorry I know that spelling is wrong ) and I'm doing much better on it.

That's good I'm glad your better. We really do need to keep ourselves well informed about new treatments for our condition that's why sites like this are so important. I can honestly say I've learned more about copd on here than from my doctors.

Haha! Wish I could walk 100 yards! Well, I can, but very slowly and with stops! I imagine it all comes down to how much oxygen you are using, and is available. So, for example, I find it harder to do things after I've eaten, presumably because the body uses oxygen for digestion etc. but either way things certainly vary hugely making it nigh on impossible to predict how difficult any activity might be.

yep...me too. changes so much even during an hour ! will try change meds and see if that helps. x
