One simple question.

Do anyone get very short of breath and got to take pump

when sweeping a small area.

yes David, some days I seem to do a fair bit with no problems, then on another day, I do a little bit and struggle. What I do seems to depend on the weather or air quality and also if I have a virus or infection. I think it also depends on what else I have done in the last say 24 hours or so. When I struggle I do like you do and use my inhaler. Take a rest and then do a bit more.

wishing you a restful night

hi, yes i do, finding having to use it more often of late, think i need a review, anything excertive leaves me breathless including going up stairs, doing anything that require effort :-( , dont think this really hot weather helps either, xx

Hi David, I agree what willowgirl has said. I am on oxygen 24x7 and nebuliser 4 times a day and yes I get totally frustrated when I have to stop three times just to go up the stairs or even in the garden.

One of the best advice that I can give you before you go out even in the garden or before you attempt to go up stairs use your pump a few minutes before you are going to do anything energetic know matter how small.

Hope this helps

I also use my ventolin before I do something energetic like an uphill walk, more than one flight of stairs etc.

I was a bit concerned at one point as I was occasionally using more than the recommended 4 times per day. I asked my specialist and he said to use it as much as I felt I needed but that I might notice faster heart beat and some dizziness.

I get SOB doing more or less anything, then for some reason I'm not so bad and do alot. I was told nearly 3 years ago to take 2 puffs of ventolin 4 times a day. The other morning I forgot and I felt OK, so stopped taking it altogether and I don't particularly miss it. Not getting so many dizzy spells, and my hands don't shake as much. Just don't know whether I should carry on as told by a resp. nurse 2 puffs 4 times a day as a precaution I assume, but the prescription says 'As required'. I am quite confused about ventolin.

HI, My husband gets so SOB now doing just about anything - sweeping would definitely require the ventolin. But much better relief since using the spacer as well. So much better. We were advised that ventolin should be used as and when as a reliever but also told to take it just before he was to do any exercise. Take care. TAD xxx

Having COPD means you'll feel different day to day. On a personal note crossing the room can make me sob very easily as can talking or eating. Best thing for me is take things as they come and try my best.
