I am on all three meds but i haven't had itching. Have you still got the info.sheet that comes with the meds. Perhaps itching might be a side effect.

Thank you, have to read them again.

Sometimes my husband does period of itching which we can't figure out - he is on ventolin, Spiriva and symbicort. I wondered if it was his meds. If it is driving you to distraction go the Doctors. Good Luck TAD xx

Urticaria (hives) is listed under the "rare" side effects of Ventolin and Hives is listed as a rare side effect of Spiriva.

Does the itching coincide with starting to take one (or both) of your inhalers?

I had side effects (sore/raw throat and chest) that were due to the propellant in the Ventolin Evohaler, plus indigestion (which I'd never experienced before) due to both Ventolin and Spiriva. I researched, experimented and discussed with nurse and GP. I was taken off the Ventolin Evohaler, swapped for Ventolin dry powder but now this has been changed to Bricanyl dry powder. And after taking prebiotics, leaving them off, and starting them again to make sure that I knew for definite they were helping, they are helping enormously with the indigestion to the point that it's now gone.

You can't exactly leave off your inhalers to experiment but if the itching did coincide with starting one or the other then I'd say it's a side effect and perhaps your GP can try you on different ones until you find something that doesn't cause the itching, or maybe something to help alleviate the itching.

Hi Rick

I am on both of those and I had lots of problems with itching. Someone told me to change to L'Occitain bath and shower gel. It's ruddy expensive but I did it and the itching stopped very quickly. I think it is something to do with the plant base it is made from. And no, I don't work for L'Occitain. lol

You could have a word with your chemist - they are pretty clued up about side effects.

Sounds Like Infection .... A Would Not Be Surprised If In Next Few Days You Have One .... Usually I Have Itching Esp Ears To Name A Few Then Its Infection

Thing Its To Do With Our Conditions And Immune System ... Hope That Helps All The Bast :)

Both Spiriva and Symbicort can cause itching until your system gets used to them ask you GP or practice Nurse about an anti-histamine, i use Betahistine Hydrochloride. There are a few others but i find this one doesn't make me to drowsy, hope this helos

Pete has terrible itching mainly on his legs and private parts. It drives him crazy and he does use xepin cream but I think he is too used to it now and it doesn't really work. This all started some years ago and happens on and off. I do think that stress plays a part. Hope you get sorted out soon rick 1. Speak to GP. xxxx

I had itching for years but nobody said it could be medication even though I strongly suspected it was so thanks for confirming I was right!

Cetirizine anti histamine prescription worked for me (or Zyrtec over the counter) - "they" say one a day but I just took one when desperate! No longer have the problem so it does go away ... eventually!

That's interesting. I didn't know which med was causing it. I'm still using Spiriva but no longer have the reaction, thank goodness!

What medication are you on now, if you don't mind me asking?

I have been itching constantly all over for three years- hardly get any sleep. Have had the following creams Eurax, teatree, E45 cream, E45 anti tch lotion, E45 moisturising lotion. Lanacaine talc. E45 bath oil, Cetraben, Doublebase and Diprobase. Had the following anti-histamines, Piriton, Cetirizine, loratadine, levocetirizine, hydroxyzine and rupatadine. Nothing helps, Am on Bricanyl, Spiriva and latterly Seretide in place of Symbicort and a daily Clarithromycin. All can cause itching. My white blood cells are high in blood tests but of the five dermatologists I`ve seen they all just say "Don`t know what it can be- try this tablet, cream etc". Does anyone know how long it takes for Spiriva to clear the body if I try to eliminate the cause bit by bit stopping different inhalers ? Sheila xx

Not itching Rick, but I do get leg and foot cramps at times WITH VENTOLYN , and even more so when I take BRICANYL.
