Hi That's a good question and i don't know the answer to it.I was diagnosed fourteen years ago and that was when i stopped smoking. We have history of chest problems in my family.sorry i can't be more specific i would have said it was mild when i was initially diagnosed. And fourteen years on even after stopping smoking
I feel considerable worse, but I'm aware that stopping smoking has help me lots. Thanks for the reply
When walking, make sure you breathe deeply--push with your diaphragm. Let your arms swing naturally. Shorten your stride, if going uphill. Us your pulse oximeter every few minutes to monitor your saturation level. Keep in mind that walking uses muscles that burn oxygen. Also, try using an elliptical exercise machine. That uses more thigh muscles. That means you burn stored glycogen/sugars and are less reliant on oxygen to get a good workout.
I've been diagnosed with COPD (from smoking) for 3 1/2 years. I quit 3 and 1/2 years ago. Exercise is crucial. Stay with it.
Thank you for the good advice i appreciate it . I also suffer with water retention I'm not sure if this is because of copd?sometimes walking is difficult when my feet are swollen but i will take on board what you have said and try to Exercise more than i do at the moment. Thanks
