I was told by my resp nurse that you should not have a CT scanfor a least 5 weeks after taking steroids.
I am waiting for an appointment for a scan and I am very SOB, I have doubled up my inhalers does anyone have any ideas what might help in the meantime?
I don't really want to take steroids anyway they make me so ill, I know there are those who never have steroids so what do they have instead?

Not sure of your situation polly, oral steroids usually prescribed when you have a lung infection unless you are on a maintenance dose then the dose is lower and should only be taken as prescribed by a medical professional.
Do you know if your breathlessness is caused by pollen? I think you need to speak with your doctor or nurse further about this, you need to be sure you don't have a lung infection, if you do steroids are the only thing that will clear it along with anti biotics. If it is pollen causing the shortness of breath a anti histamine may help but you would need to check with the pharmacy which one is ok for you to take with your current medicine.
Diaphragm breathing and pursed lip breathing are really helpful to apply when SOB and the exhale before you inhale for longer exhale than inhale, say 4 counts inhale, 6-8 exhale etc.
Dont think I have an infection not coughing up any nasties but might have a bit of congestion, breathing fine at rest, will speak to nurse next Tuesday, thank you.
