Any Ideas for Dozy

Has anyone got any ideas what I can do? For the last couple of weeks I have woken with a headache (not Mr Dozy) and a nauseous feeling. Painkillers are not shifting it. And yes I have considered cutting my head off. Please help

I really think Dozy needs to see the GP for advice!

Thanks Annie, that will be my last resort. It's too hot for the mouse to go out at present. But I will if I have to. D :) x

Morning Dozy - My husband also suffers with headaches in the morning. I know this sounds daft but are you eating before you go to bed - we have found that if he eats within an hour causes a headache in the morning as does anything coloured orange!! (inc. baked beans).

Another thing it can signal for him is a chest infection - do you have any other symptoms.

Finally it could just be the pollen - I was watching a report on TV last night and hay fever sufferers have jumped up by 500% this year - there was a long explanation why but it could account for the headache. I wake up every morning sneezing and a headache and need a tablet before I get up!

Do you usually suffer with headaches? Have you changed your meds? You probably need a visit to the Doctor - better to check these things out. Take good care, TAD xx

Oh the food, the food. I am so partial to a little nibble but you may be right. It's not just we eat late but I go to bed with a large undigested lump in my tummy. You could be on to something. Will give it a go. Thanks D :) x

nice to be back on site jean

It can be a build up of carbon dioxide in the blood, or low oxygen level..It can also be something as simple as dehydration..I had headaches every morning for mths ,sometimes I still do but after a glass of water and as the day goes on it goes away..Hope this helps x

Sats are ok, and lucky enough not to be a retainer. However you could well be right, especially in this heat, I should have a drink of water in the bedroom. Will try that tomorrow too. Thank you D :) x

My morning headaches were cause by my teeth. If stressed I would clamp my teeth together so hard during sleep that I always woke with a headache, nothing would shift. My doctor advised a mouth guard. I had one fitted at the dentist and found it worked a treat.

Yours could be a number of things, please ask your doctor.

Kindest regards

GJ

Wish I had enough to clamp together, so do not think it's that. I have heard of this and yes mouthguards work really well. Thank you for your help D :) x

I think I'd go with dehydration - or maybe what you're drinking. In this hot weather my head is a bit muzzier than usual so have upped the water with my usual coffee assault of course and it does help me. :) xxx

I tend to think dehydration as well, but the food is a good one as well. Thanks hun D :) x

Hi Dozy, I think you should discuss with your GP (assuming that none of the obvious like dehydration, neck or shoulder strains, virus infection could be the cause). Migranes can cause both symptoms and you may need to see neurologist for assessment including MRI scan of head. I had this done some time ago, MRI showed evidence of migrane (and excluded other more serious causes of headache) and was given prophylaxis med. It helped with both symptoms of nausea and headaches. My best wishes to youxxx

Used to get stress related migraines but no longer. No stress anymore. Think its more likely dehydration but thanks for your ideas D :) x

Hi Mrs Dozy,

There are many, many different causes of headaches, a lot of which have already been mentioned. A lot also depends on your medical history and medication. To get to the bottom of them it would be best to make an appointment with your GP who can ask you the appropriate questions, and check your blood pressure etc. This sounds as if it is a new thing for you, so does need to be investigated by a doctor, as there could be any number of reasons for them. Even if you have had a change of medication recently that could cause your symptoms. I wouldn't be surprised if it was some form of migraine or the humidity. Please, for your own sake see a doctor, as we cannot diagnose the reason on line.

Meanwhile to try and relieve the pain, lie down in a cool, darkened room with a cool pack or cold cloth on your forehead. Sorry, I can't think of anything else. Hope you feel better soon.

hugs from Huggs xx

Agree with heat and humidity. That's the only thing that's changed recently and boy is it hot. Thank you for your caring advice D :) x

Hi DD, I've been feeling a bit groggy in the mornings for a while so I thought I would check my oxygen sats as soon as I woke. It read 90 so I upped my overnight oxygen from 1 liter to 2 and all is well now. I wake and feel much more with it and my sats now read 97/98. It pays to try and keep your head in these situations, Ha Ha.

I guess these hot nights have made a difference and it shows the value of having your own sats meter.

Oh yeh' I did wonder who was collecting our tennis balls for us, I thought I saw something scampering around but put it down to heat stroke and madness. Well only mad dogs & Englishmen go out in the midday heat right.

If I had known you were there I would have invited you to the pub afterwards for some nuts and a pint of nutty ale.

Hows it going with the 6 minute walk training, is your wheely thing being kind to you and will you be beating me to breaking the 500 meter barrier ?

Ok check your sats when you wake as low oxygen can cause headaches I believe.

Dear Dr Tony

Thank you for the diagnosis, are you nhs or private? Sats were ok but have had to shorten pipe and turn concentrators to max to increase flow at my end. So at present can't sit outside but in this heat not a good idea.

Guess what, I have been in the boat. We went out of the harbour into the wild rough sea. It did the lungs so much good am going to buy a trampoline.

Haven't quite got to 6 mins yet but when I do we'll do the 500m. So pleased you enjoyed the tennis and am sure that your game will improve with practice. Take care hero D :) x

Morning, as already been said I would get yourself checked out at the doctors and the opticians, I wake in the mornings with banging headaches and feel nauseous, I presumed this was because of lack of oxygen through the night when sleeping.

But after a trip to the opticians, the Ophthalmologists and a neurologist I have been diagnosed idiopathic intracranial hypertension. iih.org.uk/what-is-iih

Get it checked just to make sure

Good luck and take care

My morning headaches were down to hypertension it seems. Suffered for quite some time and eventually went to GP. Changed my BP meds by adding in Adizem - what a difference! BP now way down and headaches finally cleared. May be worth getting checked.
