Afraid all the crossed things didnt help, we were told there is nothing they can do the back of the eyes have been damaged by surges in his blood pressure.

So there we go a new episode in our life is opening, the hospital are informing Social Services to see what help they can offer us.

Thank you for your support.

Certainly not the hoped-for outcome for either of you pollyjj :( but - and I know this won't be much of a consolation at the moment - at least your beloved hubby is still there with you :) and, with the advances that are being made in science and medicine as we write, who knows what's around the corner ;)

Keep on keeping on hoping :) ....

Thanks everyone I am sure things will look brighter in the morning at the moment I am very sad for me and my hubby and I worry what will happen when I get ill, because I will not be able to look after him, still something to discuss with Social Services, does anyone think they will help because I am doubtfull.

My hubby told the doc he had his heart tested and they said he had one.

The doc said no my hubby had my heart and I had his.

I thought that was lovely and so true.

Social services have a duty to help you.Tell them that you want to know about everything that is available to you.

Tell them that you would like a home visit. It is much more comfortable to talk in your own home.

Try getting some advice from AGE UK or BLF on what questions/answers you will need to know about

Polly I'm so sorry to hear this, it must be so difficult for you both.

I believe you can ask your GP for a referral to the practice Occupational Therapist, she/he will come to your home to assess what free aids and adjustments they can provide.

All the best to you both. XX

Sorry to hear this. A relative of mine has had a huge amount of help and support fron the RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind), which has enabled her to live independently - her husband died some years ago and despite the deterioration in her sight she manages alone in her flat. Despite their name they help anyone that has sight loss; you don't have to be blind. I'd really recommend them.
