Asthma triggered by period/perimenopause

Hi, I’m awaiting seeing my specialist in a few weeks and maybe going onto biologics after lots of prednisolone over the last year. After a bad few weeks with my asthma suddenly I was much much better yesterday- towards the end of a period. I just wondered if anyone had found anything that helped on the hormonal front? Anyone tried HRT? I’m probably perimenopausal and have wondered if that’s why the last 1-2 years have been particularly bad for me asthma wise after a decent period of being well managed.

Also, does anyone really struggle with tiredness around a flare up and afterwards? Thanks for any advice : )

Hormonal fluctuations was a definite component in my asthma control.

I have a mirena coil in situ and oestrogen patches, regulates it all

Still have plenty of other asthma triggers but irregular, perimenapausal

influence is definitely better.

Hi. That is something I have never considered. I wonder if there are any good studies on hrt and menopause and asthma. It would certainly make sense in terms of timings in that my asthma was at its worse mid 30s to 40s as had am early mp. But then I did have severe asthma all my life really. I have been on biologic injection for a few years now and hardly use my blue inhaler. It has been life changing. 🙂
