I have had asthma all my life, but now have a compromised immune system due to Myeloma and a stem cell transplant which I had a while back.
Like many of us, I developed a horrible chest infection at the start of December 24, and yes, I’m still getting over it. I have always worn a standard blue medical face mask if I visit the doctors surgery / hospital, but have again began wearing a mask when I go into shops etc….
I have read about the face masks that have a valve, and that they are very comfortable to wear for long periods of time but have never used one.
Anyone had experiences with these masks?
Thank you all

A long time ago I bought an anti pollution masks with replaceable filters . Just search on google. Sorry cant remember where from but maybe a cycle site?
You need an N95 mask. Yes apparently a single blue mask offers low protection. I often wear two together if I want less attention. The N95 mask are the best but a little more ‘stand out’. I would mask from November until mid early May. Remember the stain of flu that goes around from early April is often the worse of the year imo.
Hi, I have found the Cambridge Masks quite effective. I struggle with airborne allergens and the masks help filter the air in public spaces. Some scent, when passing a Lush shop, still gets through- but it’s much reduced!
The Cambridge Mask company do masks with and without valves. I have found them tricky to get a good face fit but they come with an extra strap which is very helpful- just takes some experimentation.
