Help needed finding FeNo and Spirometry private in yorkshire for under 18

Good evening,

My son has, for a few years now, been presenting with occasional short coughing bursts and throat clearing that lasts around 20 minutes. These have always been blamed on allergies, but for a number of reasons we have begun to suspect asthma. I'm hoping to find a clinic that can perform a FeNo and Spirometry test on a ten year old. Any ideas?

Good morning. I should think the 1st place to go is your doctors surgery. Lots of surgeries do Spirometry tests and my Asthma was diagnosed from a simple blood test. Hope you get some help and more answers from others. Brian

Do not know Yorkshire, but i had private spirometry and other tests done at Spire in Leicester. Waiting times were much shorter than with the NHS -- if this is what you are after.

In our area, you would go to the local Spire hospital and ask them.

Diagnosing asthma is a bit of an art form, there are a range of tests, that pick up different types of asthma.

I would suggest that you ask your local Spire if they have a consultant that does childhood allergy and respiratory. . That will mean that they can look at the issue more fully, rather than do one isolated test.

Hi, I don't know what's available in Yorkshire either, I'm in Gloucestershire and in my town there's a Nuffield private hospital. A lot of private consultants also work in the NHS so you could cross reference any consultant names you find with the names on the list of your nearest Respiratory Department . Once you find the right one s/he may be able to transfer your child to her/his NHS list. I always think University Hospitals could be better if there's a choice. Good luck. P
