I’ve been on a preventer inhaler for 2 years (Fostair). I’m curious to know if others have noticed any specific differences in their breathing since being out on a preventer? For me the main thing I notice is my breath feels a lot longer where I’m using my diaphragm to breathe instead of it being shallow. I can breathe all the way out on each breath. I guess that means when I do exercise I don’t feel out of breath much if ever now. Can’t work out if this is just what normal breathing feels like or ICS always change your breathing in a noticeable way.

How has your preventer inhaler changed your breathing?
good question! I was just thinking the same.
My asthma nurse explained to me that Fostair has smaller particles than most inhalers and so it's easier to inhale the medication into the smaller bronchi. Maybe that's why you now feel you can breathe deeper than before? Diaphragmatic breathing is definitely more effective and it's something I have to practice, as over the years I've just got into bad habits; shallow breathing through mouth rather than diaphragmatic breathing through nose. I remember as a kid being told by a respiratory physiotherapist that I don't breath out sufficiently either. 🙄
Fostair isn't just a preventer - there is also a long acting bronchodilator in it - Formoterol - so is different to the old preventer (clenil modulite etc) that is Beclometasone by itself.
