asthma flair up

Yes helen I have, for a while now I have struggled. we have had cold wet weather for months now, well in NW we have, bound to have an effect.. I went doctors last week, and now awaiting tests,

Yes, my asthma is very unpredictable at present. I have my fostair 100 under the Mart regime, which allows me to vary the dosage within agreed limits, and is useful when my asthma is variable.
Make sure you talk to your medic or have a chat with asthma UK helpline.
Yes I have, as soon as it gets humid my lungs start complaining. I have an allergy to aspergillus mould (found in leaf litter etc) which seems to be loving the weather we've been having. I found out about the aspergillus allergy when having allergy tests done for a different health condition. I don't know how much research has been done for mould allergy and asthma compared to pollen.
Yes, probably for the past week but not enough to try and book a gp
Yep. I've been taking my winter dose of Fostair which is a bit annoying. I recently had covid for the first time with little warning (it wasn't too bad though). I take changes as a warning that there could be something else going on. Best to get chest listened to if you can
Yes, I am actually in an asthma flare! For the past week my Fostair 200/6 would not work. I use the MART regime and it usually works wonders along with Montelukast tablets, and Fexofenadine. However, after a talk with my Doctor, I ended up starting prednisolone (which I can’t stand tbh), and antibiotics because with all the wheezing etc., the phlegm collected in my lungs.
I don’t know what has happened with the weather or the allergens but I haven’t been quite like this for a while.
Hope that helps🌺
Yes , I have. I had the same problem begin at almost exactly the same time of year (maybe a week in it) last year and for the same reason: unusually damp weather for the time of year and high pollen counts. It’s annoying because it’s put a halt to my aerobic exercise routine which is not helping asthma wise at the moment - same thing happened last year. Currently I’m using a top up inhaler in the evening - usually at this time of year I’d be on Alvesco 160 used once in the morning. My GP has upped my antihistamine for allergic rhinitis to fexofenadine 180 on a month’s trial to see if that helps: it’s certainly helped with the hayfever side of things but I’ve yet to notice any knock on improvement asthma wise.
Yes, for the last few weeks, after being beautifully controlled.
If you've tried anti histamines that should control allergies, if it's humidity the best place is the bathroom where the tiled slightly damp cooler air always damps my asthma down tho have no intention of putting a bed in there! And air purifiers, breathing in through a damp cloth, ice pack on back of neck etc to cool and relax.👍
Yes, I’ve been having problems all year which have gotten worse since increase in grass pollen which started earlier this year in may. Constant changes between wet , cold and warm weather , plus increase in pollen isn’t helping . Even friends who don’t usually get hay fever are getting those kinds of symptoms and can smell the pollen everywhere! I completely sympathise.
My advise is to take all the medication you need and a steroid nasal spray, but keep pushing with gp / asthma nurse who may be able to help more. It’s taken me years to get a hospital referral which is also becoming a challenge, but we have to keep trying .
If the environment and weather continues to develop like this , then we will need more support from the NHS in the future with more easily available treatments and medications.
I’ve been struggling since last year with my asthma when it was cold it set me off coughing and wheezing I still cough when cold air hits me. I feel like I have a reoccurring cold on top of it
Yes, the grass pollen season has been really long this year - it is usually so low by the 1st week in July, that I can stop taking my anti-allergy (Sodium cromoglicate) medication, but I have had to continue taking it, at least in the morning and late evening, to avoid becoming slightly asthmatic at night, this year.
