Hi, I've been on combi forstair Next inhaler and my symptoms has greatly improved! However I have 2 horrible side effects . 1 . Bouts of oral thrush and 2 . What I can only describe as a plug of mucus every morning which leads me to cough and clear my throat, does anybody have any tips?

I regularly clean teeth and rinse my mouth to no avail.

Re the thrush, I got it despite using spacer and rinsing.

I then started using corsodyl mouthwash, instead my normal Tesco mouthwash, which so far has worked for me. I find corsodyl a bit strong so I only use it when I start to have issues. I also find that rinsing with salted water is good when I am having issues.

The only issue with regular use of Corsodyl is that it can stain your teeth, that's what my dental hygienist told me when she commented on my stained teeth. I used to use it regularly to stop the thrush too. Now I just use a normal mouthwash most of the time and use the Corsodyl when I actually get thrush - luckily it's not *too* often.

It seems everything to do with health is a balancing act of dealing with different symptoms caused by actual illnesses or what we do to try to prevent / treat them 🙄🙄

My mum had to use Corsodyl, the doctor told me to take out half into another bottle and top both up with water as it was too strong x

the only thing I can add to this is to properly gargle not just rinse. So you are clearing the back of your throat. I had thrush when I first started using it because either I hadn't been told about gargling or had forgotten. They clear that with meds, told me to gargle, and I've not problem since.

As someone else has said: regular use of Corsodyl is not so great from a dental point of view due to staining. But if it works to clear an infection on an ad hoc basis that's great.
